The highly-anticipated Lone Ranger has certainly had its fair share of ups and downs, and shooting hasn’t even started yet. Last month, Disney pulled the plug on production, although we heard rumblings last week that the studio and producer Jerry Bruckheimer were close to resolving their budgetary issues. Now it seems that everything will be finalized next week, with Disney expected to announce production on Lone Ranger will begin in January or February 2012....

Marvel has released a motion poster for Daredevil season 3. The very brief tease is quite cryptic and hints at the Hell’s Kitchen hero having a pretty tough start to his next solo outing in Netflix’s corner of the Marvel universe. The promo, which is just a few seconds in length, poses a pretty simple question; where is Matt Murdock? This is a question that certainly needs answering, from the viewpoint of the other people in this universe....

Springfield is going Hollywood this summer with the release of the highly anticipated The Simpsons Movie on July 27th, and McFarlane Toys has been tapped to support the film with a new line of intricately detailed action figures. Emmy Award-winning actor Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) and Academy Award-winning actress Ellen Burstyn (The Fountain, The Exorcist), star in the two-hour television event motion picture Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom’s For One More Day, premiering SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9 (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. The production, which wrapped this week, was shot primarily on location in Connecticut. In the film, based on Albom’s bestselling book For One More Day, Imperioli plays Chick Benetto, a broken-down former baseball player who has collapsed into alcoholism and despair....

A new Cobra Kai Season 2 clip features a Mr. Miyagi and Daniel LaRusso flashback to The Karate Kid. LaRusso is in the latest scene with Johnny Lawrence’s son Robby Keene where he teaches the young student about Miyagi-Do rules for karate. Technically, we only get rule number one, which is “Karate is for defense only.” We then go back to Mr. Miyagi explaining the same thing to a young LaRusso, which is the most important one to focus on....

Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby, The Shawshank Redemption and Driving Miss Daisy) will host AFI’S 100 Years…100 Movies – 10th Anniversary Edition, a new entertainment special counting down the greatest movies of all time, to be broadcast Wednesday, June 20 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. During the broadcast, the confidential list of the 100 greatest American films of all time will be revealed by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars....

Neil Druckmann, co-creator of The Last of Us HBO show, said that the thing he was most excited about doing in the show that wasn’t in the game was Anna (Ashley Johnson), the mother of main character Ellie (Bella Ramsey) appearing in the series. Though the character never appeared in the game, Druckmann said he had written a short story about the character prior to the creation of the show. During an event in Berlin earlier today showcasing Netflix’s new European line of programming, the streaming service debuted the first look at their new series Mindhunter, which will premiere sometime in October. This first look video can be seen below, which gives us a look inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crimes unite, where one agent develops unique profiling techniques as he pursues notorious serial killers and rapists. The first season will be 10 episodes, as the show marks the return to Netflix for filmmaker David Fincher....

Netflix will be giving the heroes in a half-shell their next feature film with the release of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie. The Good These filmmakers should be given a lot of credit for going into Falluja and making this film. The Bad Covers a lot of the same material that we can see in other documentary films about Iraq. Poor packaging. New York-based independent film company Paladin, formed last fall by distribution veteran Mark Urman, announced today that it will release Angela Ismailos’ Great Directors, a celebration of films and filmmaking starring ten of the world’s most acclaimed, provocative, and individualistic living directors. The documentary had its world premiere at the 2009 Venice Film Festival, and was produced through Ismailos’ Anisma Films. Paladin will open the film in NY, Los Angeles, and other top markets in late Spring....

The DC Extended Universe gets a whole lot funnier with the absolutely hilarious Peacemaker. Director/writer James Gunn continues the raunchy and graphically violent slapstick adventures of The Suicide Squad’s unfiltered patriot. He’s still willing to kill to preserve the peace but exhibits surprising regret for his past murderous actions. Peacemaker’s joined by a terrific ensemble of wacky supporting characters. The initial three episodes play out like action-packed skits that introduce the bizarre eccentricities of the cast....

Screenwriter Marc Guggenheim (Green Lantern) is in talks to tackle the scripting duties for Perry Mason, which Robert Downey Jr. is producing and may star in. We first reported on the project back in October, when Warner Bros. signed on. Marc Guggenheim will work from an original story by Robert Downey Jr. and his Team Downey production partner David Gambino.
