Screenwriters Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi both burst onto the scene in 2001 with their debut film Crazy/Beautiful. Nearly a decade after their debut, they have a surefire blockbuster on their hands. Hay and Manfredi are the screenwriters behind this weekend’s pre-summer tentpole Clash of the Titans, which will hit theaters nationwide on April 2 and, despite their busy schedule with a growing slate of films they’re currently developing, we managed to get them on the phone to chat about their latest projects and so much more....

The CW has tapped Spider-Man director Sam Raimi to bring his frightening abilities to network TV. Netlet has given an eight-episode order to 13, a nonscripted horror-themed show from Raimi and reality vet Jay Bienstock, which will broadcast this summer. According to Variety, the tentatively titled 13 has been in the works for some time. “It sounded like a lot of fun,” Bienstock said. “The idea of doing a horror/scary/reality show with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert – there’s nothing better....

Lindsay Lohan will lead the upcoming Netflix film Irish Wish. The rom-com is part of a two-picture partnership, that was announced this March, between the Mean Girls actress and the streamer. The partnership excludes the previously announced holiday film Falling For Christmas, starring Lohan and Chord Overstreet that is scheduled for release November 10. Irish Wish follows Maddie, a woman whose life takes an unexpected turn when “the love of her life gets engaged to her best-friend....

Lionsgate, the leading next generation studio, today announced that it has acquired North American distribution rights to the fact-based action drama Machine Gun Preacher, directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace). The film is the studio’s first collaboration with Forster since the Oscar-winning Monster’s Ball. Gerard Butler (Law Abiding Citizen, 300) stars as Reverend Sam Childers, known as “the machine gun preacher.” Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye, Gone Baby Gone) co-stars as his wife, Lynn Childers; Oscar nominee Michael Shannon (The Runaways, Revolutionary Road) portrays Childers’s best friend, Donnie; Madeline Carroll (The Spy Next Door, Swing Vote) plays Childers’s daughter, Paige; Kathy Baker (Last Chance Harvey, Street Smart) plays Childers’s mother, Daisy Childers; and Souleymane Sy Savane (Goodbye Solo, Damages) plays Deng, Childers’s right hand in Africa....

The second season of Marvel Studios’ Loki is probably one of the most anticipated shows coming to Disney+ in 2023. Now as part of a new upcoming montage released by the platform, fans have a first look at Tom Hiddleston’s return as the God of Mischief, along with new images of Owen Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie Laufeydottir from the series. Loki hit Disney+ in 2021 and became an instant smash hit, becoming the biggest show on the platform....

Lucy Lawless talks about her role in the new Disney film Lucy Lawless is best known for her TV work as the popular title character of Xena: Warrior Princess, but she plays a much different role in the new Adam Sandler film, Bedtime Stories, which hits the shelves on DVD and Blu-ray on April 7. The Good An interesting thriller that is thickly layered and features a top notch cast. The Bad A movie from this time period in film certainly deserves a commentary track. Clocking in at 125 minutes Marathon Man is a 1970s thriller of the highest order. This film features many characters, all of which circle around Babe Levy (Dustin Hoffman). This movie takes it’s time telling it’s story but it all begins with the brother of Nazi Christian Szell (Laurence Olivier) dying in a car crash....

Michael Dorn’s idea for a Captain Worf series has the support of at least one of his old co-stars from Star Trek: The Next Generation. In the original TV series and its various tie-in movies, Marina Sirtis appeared alongside Dorn’s Worf as Deanna Troi. She has since reprised the role for a special appearance on the Paramount+ sequel series Star Trek: Picard. Since we last saw him in the role, Dorn has been very vocal about his desire to return as Worf in a new Star Trek movie or TV series....

Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige has praised the festive vibes of upcoming Disney+ series, Hawkeye, describing himself as being passionate about Christmas and passionate for the storytelling possibilities that come with this time of year. After confirming that yes, Iron Man 3 is in fact a Christmas movie, Feige teased the classic, jolly escapade that Clint Barton will embark on in his first standalone adventure. A lot of fuss has been made about the small-scale story told in Hawkeye, with the street-level action making a refreshing change from all the world-ending, multiversal madness that has littered the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent years....

Marvel Studios has finally settled on a new director for their upcoming Blade reboot, and it looks like the movie itself may be getting an overhaul in the process. Following the departure of Bassam Tariq, Kevin Feige has been wading through possible replacements for the outgoing director, and according to Deadline, settled on White Boy Rick and Lovecraft Country helmer Yann Demange. Not only that but the script for the movie will also be rewritten by Michael Starrbury and will reportedly take on a darker tone than previously thought....

Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe truly expanded the franchise in bold new ways. Supporting characters like Wanda Maximoff, Vision, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, and Hawkeye were given expanded roles with their own stories, the multiverse was expanded upon, and a new threat was teased in the form of Kang the Conqueror. With seven feature films and eight television series, the franchise also introduced a host of new heroes....

Don’t get your hopes up too high for a Me Time 2. Debuting on Netflix in August, Me Time is a buddy comedy movie starring Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg as two pals setting out for a hijinks-filled weekend. Unfortunately, the film was met with almost universally negative reviews, landing with an abysmal 7% rotten rating at the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes. Its audience score was comparably better but still very rotten with a 29% score....

Michaela Jaé Rodriguez is set to star in Wildfire, written by Chaya Doswell. For her emotional performance in Pose, the critically acclaimed series, she became the first transgender actress to win a Golden Globe for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Morgan Spurlock has signed an exclusive new deal with Fox Television. According to Variety, he will be producing both TV series and projects for new media under this contract. Fox’s David Madden stated, “Jill Schwartz and I wanted to make a statement that this studio was after adventurous material that would blur the lines between scripted and nonscripted, that would be provocative, high profile and mess with all the rules. Wasn’t National Lampoon’s Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj just in movie theaters? In a story from DavisDVD, they report that Universal Home Video will be bringing National Lampoon’s Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj to DVD March 13. Synopsis: Taj Badalandabad (Kal Penn), the personal assistant to the legendary Van Wilder, has just graduated Coolidge College and is now on his way to England’s Camford University. After a spate of renewals and cancellations from other networks yesterday, it’s NBC’s turn for “spring cleaning” today, with the network cancelling the beloved cult comedy Community and the ambitious drama series Revolution. While Community’s cancellation isn’t terribly surprising, since the show has essentially cheated death throughout its five-season run, fans were holding out hope that the show could fulfill its “six seasons and a movie” plan, after a report from March revealed that NBC and Sony Pictures Television were optimistic about a sixth and final 13-episode season....
