NBC is loading its new 2006-07 primetime schedule with six new dramas and four new comedies that accentuate distinctive talent, quality concepts and cornerstone dramas that will allow the network to play offense – especially with its new weekend showpiece in “Sunday Night Football.” The annual program announcement was made today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment, before the advertising community, affiliate stations and press at Radio City Music Hall....

The director of this hilarious comedy remake takes us behind-the-scenes in honor of its August 10th debut For the first time since collaborating on the modest hit comedy Nurse Betty, director Neil LaBute and comedian Chris Rock have once again joined forces to bring us the hilarious new farce Death at a Funeral, which arrives on DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday, August 10th. The film is an American remake of Frank Oz’s 2007 international smash hit of the same name, which explores the provocative exploits of a deceased man, and the problems his well-buried secrets cause a close-knit family once they are revealed at his funeral....

Netflix announced the production of a second black comedy from award-winning creator, writer and executive producer Liz Feldman. Feldman’s second project with the streaming service, No Good Deed, was announced on the third anniversary of the Dead to Me show premiere. The series will follow the story of three families looking to purchase the same dream home, a 1920s-style villa. The sellers of the home, however, are aware that underneath the surface, the house is not as perfect as it seems....

Netflix recently announced the development of a new scripted father-son comedy, starring…you guessed it! A father and son. Unstable comes to us from Rob Lowe, his writer, producer, actor son John Owen Lowe (The Grinder, Holiday in the Wild), and producer Victor Fresco (Santa Clarita Diet, Sean Saves the World). Rob Lowe is a great, versatile actor with a distinguished list of credits across four decades, and it seems he is only gaining steam every year....

Warner Bros. had provided us with 6 new movie stills from TMNT, which was the highest grossing film this past weekend, knocking off 300 which had dominated the box-office the previous two weeks. Star Wars prequel trilogy star Hayden Christensen has at last broken his silence on reprising the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the upcoming Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. While the extent of Christensen’s role in the series is still unknown, it has been revealed that the actor will don the iconic costume of Vader. An experience that Christensen has now described as “surreal.” In a profile on Obi-Wan Kenobi by EW, Christensen discussed returning to the role after all these years, praising director Deborah Chow’s vision for the Star Wars series and how it continues the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin (it’s unknown at present whether Vader will remove his helmet, or if James Earl Jones will return as Vader’s voice)....

Paramount Pictures announced the creation of a new specialty division named Paramount Vantage. The label is expected to release approximately 8-10 films annually and will focus on a broad range of titles, from sophisticated films with a strong art-house sensibility, as well as smaller budgeted comedy and horror films. Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s film Babel, which will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 23rd, will be the first release under the new label....

Oscar-nominated filmmaker Morgan Spurlock and his production company Warrior Poets have finalized a deal to purchase the naming rights for the city of Altoona, Pennsylvania, it was announced today. The city’s new name, POM Wonderful Presents the Greatest Movie Ever Sold, will be effective on April 27, 2011 for 60 days and will be commemorated during a proclamation ceremony to be held at City Hall (130112th Street) at 1PM that afternoon....

With so many comic books being adapted into movie these days, it’s hard to keep them straight. But the latest, Red is as good as any that we’ve seen recently and certainly rivals the fun and excitement of another DC comics adapted film, “The Losers,” which was released earlier this year. The film is based on the popular three-issue comic series about a group of retired CIA agents who are forced back into duty and was written by comic book icon Warren Ellis....

Join me for a movie, part one of three, that actually might’ve been pretty good if it hadn’t been for one particularly unpleasant part that botched the whole thing a dozen times over. So what we have here is part one of three in a series set in a New York with lots of acid rain and the ethical values of a major corporation, DNA 21. That’s scary enough as it stands, but keep going and watch what else we’ve got....

The Good A hilarious show that doesn’t just lampoon police officers but everyone. The Bad I just wish there were more episodes in this release. Reno 911!: The Complete Fourth Season has the officers from the Reno, Nevada Sheriff’s department do everything to restore law and “in-order” to people’s everyday lives. Whether we’re following Deputy Garcia, Deputy Junior, Lt. Dangle, Officer Wiegel or any of the members of the Sheriff’s department, you can always be sure that laughs (and the officers personality) is bound to get in the way of any situation these unlawful officers face....

Actor and stuntman Brandon Molale sent out an intriguing tweet yesterday, indicating he auditioned to portray the motion-captured Hulk in The Avengers. Take a look at his tweet below: The news contradicts a report from September where Mark Ruffalo revealed he would not only portray Bruce Banner, but the motion-captured Hulk component of his character as well. The relentless masked killers from Rogue Pictures’ horror-thriller hit, The Strangers, will make their theme park debut with vivid appearances in “House of Horrors: Meet the Strangers,” one of many terror-filled mazes featured in Universal Studios Hollywood’s ”Halloween Horror Nights” event, beginning on Friday, October 3.
