Paramount Classics has committed 5% of their domestic theatrical gross for their film, An Inconvenient Truth, with a minimum guarantee of $500,000 to be donated to a new bipartisan climate effort, Alliance for Climate Protection. The deal was announced today by Former Vice President Al Gore, Jeff Skoll, CEO, Participant Productions and John Lesher, President of the specialty division. This unprecedented donation runs the entire length of the film’s domestic release....

Robert Downey Jr. is set to star as the main character in Sherlock Holmes, a reimagining of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s sparky sleuth with Guy Ritchie directing for Warner Bros. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie takes its cue from a forthcoming comic book that producer Lionel Wigram wrote as a selling tool for a new take on the classic character. Season 1 of Luke Cage officially recognized Barack Obama as President in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now, star Mike Colter wants the former president to make a cameo in the upcoming Season 3. Season 2 of the Marvel Netflix show premiered last week and has gained favorable reviews with many fans and critics hailing it as better than the first season. The idea of Obama making a cameo on the show isn’t too far off since he and wife Michelle Obama recently signed a deal with Netflix....

ESPN+ is set to air a multi-part documentary on the legendary quarterback next month. The upcoming docuseries will reveal Tom Brady’s “personal first-hand accounts” of his 10 Super Bowl appearances between the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Man in the Arena was first announced by ESPN earlier this year in May 2021. It has now been confirmed that the upcoming docuseries will be releasing next month on November 16, 2021....

On Thursday night, Oscar winner Matt Damon exacted his revenge following a decade of torture by hijacking Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show Jimmy Kimmel Live! and renaming it Jimmy Kimmel Sucks!Damon showed Kimmel how it’s done by packing his one-evening-only late night turn with comedy and a cavalcade of A-list stars. Damon replaced Kimmel’s longtime sidekick Guillermo with legendary actor Andy Garcia, his best childhood friend and bandleader Cleto with multi-Grammy winner Sheryl Crow, and packed his couch with such Hollywood notables as Nicole Kidman, Gary Oldman, Amy Adams, Reese Witherspoon and Demi Moore....

Matthew Fox and Edward Burns have joined the cast of I, Alex Cross, an adaptation of the James Patterson novel. It is the first major role Matthew Fox has landed since Lost ended its seven-season run last May. We reported in February that Tyler Perry will be portraying the title character, who was previously played by Morgan Freeman in Along Came A Spider and Kiss the Girls. Edward Burns will be playing Cross’ partner, Tommy Kane, while Matthew Fox will play the villain, Michael Sullivan, a killer who is stopped by Cross and who vows revenge on the detective....

Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox has the perfect topper for his Christmas tree. On Instagram, the legendary actor posted a new photo of the top of his tree, noting that he “couldn’t find a star for the office tree topper.” What Fox could find was a Back to the Future action figure of Marty McFly, and this may be even better than a star or angel would have been....

In another universe, Michael Keaton may have continued in his role as Batman beyond 1992’s Batman Returns, but the actor has explained in a new podcast that a clash with Batman Forever director Joel Schumacher over the overall tone of the character instigated his departure from the franchise for thirty years. While we all know that Keaton will be reprising his role as the original big-screen iteration of the Dark Knight in The Flash and Batgirl movies, there has always been a question over what would have happened if he had not quit the role ahead of the 1995 movie that brought in Val Kilmer as the new face of Batman, and it’s one that Keaton covered while appearing on In The Envelope: The Actor’s Podcast....

Back in January, it was reported that two fans of Ana de Armas had launched a $5 million lawsuit against Universal for using footage of the actress in the trailer for Yesterday but cutting her from the final film. While the incident seemed destined to be thrown out of court at the time, something that Universal argued for, an unprecedented ruling has seen the lawsuit moving forward. Mother/Android is the perfect title for Mattson Tomlin’s first film. The bifurcation of the name is between the most human and life-giving subject imaginable (a mother) and the most lifeless, inhuman one science-fiction usually comes up with (an android). It’s weirdly ironic, then, that Tomlin’s film seems to be a divided subject itself, split between a phenomenal science-fiction picture and a rather bland melodrama without much substance. The film concerns what’s often called the ’technological singularity,’ or the point in which technology becomes so uncontrollable that there is an intelligence explosion of sorts, where artificial intelligence becomes smarter than humans....

In ramping up its commitment to longform and event limited series programming along the lines of A.D.: After the Bible, which was announced last month, NBC is in early development on a handful of new projects, including a behind-the-scenes look at Hillary Rodham Clinton, an updated retelling of Rosemary’s Baby, Stephen King’s Tommyknockers and Plymouth, based on the epic story of the Mayflower’s landing in America. The four-hour miniseries titled Hillary, based on the life of former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, stars Diane Lane and will be written and directed by Oscar nominee Courtney Hunt (Frozen River)....

NBC released its 2010-2011 midseason schedule today, and among the major changes was the announcement of a three-hour comedy block on Thursday nights. There are currently four comedies on NBC’s Thursday night lineup - Community, 30 Rock, The Office and Outsourced - which run from 8 PM ET to 10 PM ET. The network will extend the block into the 10 PM hour, moving 30 Rock and Outsourced into that time frame....

A new trailer for Big Mouth season 2 has arrived. Netflix has had a lot of luck with their original animated shows, but Big Mouth wound up being pretty memorable when it debuted last year due to its extremely honest and wildly inappropriate depiction of young people during their formative years. Now, the show is back for a second season and the first teaser gives us a glimpse at the hormone monsters coming back in full force for another go....

Warner Bros. has unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming remake, Poseidon, starring Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell, Emmy Rossum, Jacinda Barrett, Mike Vogel, Jimmy Bennett, Mia Maestro, Andre Braugher and Richard Dreyfuss. The original movie, released in 1972 by 20th Century Fox, told the story of a ragtag group of survivors trapped on a passenger ship after it is capsized by a monster wave. It was followed by the 1979 sequel “Beyond the Poseidon Adventure,” which was released by Warner Bros....
