Gotham’s version of The Joker has just received some high praise from Mark Hamill. Gotham has introduced a ton of character’s from Batman’s rogues gallery throughout its run. Cameron Monaghan portrays Jerome who, while technically not referred to as The Joker on the series, clearly serves as a precursor to the famed Clown Prince of Crime. Many DC fans are quite happy with his portrayal and now, you can add Mark Hamill, who is very closely associated with the role of The Joker himself, to Monaghan’s list of fans....

During its upfront presentation today, FreeForm unveiled the first trailer and official photo from their highly-anticipated Marvel TV series Cloak & Dagger, with the 10-episode series slated to debut in early 2018. The network still hasn’t issued an official premiere date quite yet, after this Cloak & Dagger TV show was delayed, originally slated to premiere sometime this year. This series marks Marvel’s first foray into the young-adult-oriented network FreeForm, which could have all the makings of a big hit for the network....

Director Joss Whedon is currently prepping for the monstrous task of following up this summer’s blockbuster Marvel’s The Avengers with The Avengers 2 in 2015. The filmmaker revealed he plans to take these superheroes to the edge, testing their cohesive relationships. The filmmaker will also be consulting and overseeing the rest of Marvel’s Phase 2 movies such as Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy....

There won’t be any changes with the hosts for the next season of Jeopardy!, the long-running popular game show that formerly featured the late Alex Trebek as its host. Following the death of Trebek, a slew of guest hosts had filled in before executive producer Mike Richards announced he’d personally take the job. He soon after stepped down amid controversy, at which point it was announced that Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings would share hosting duties until a permanent host was named....

You know that downloading movies is really getting serious when these guys get involved… In a story from Home Media Magazine, it seems that on April 16, at the National Association of Broadcasters in Las Vegas, Microsoft “announced the launch of Silverlight, a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in technology that allows media companies to deliver video and interactive content more cost-effectively on a variety of browsers, including Explorer, Firefox and Safari” This new browser “uses Windows Media Video technology and Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers’ VC-1 video standard to allow transmission of interactive video on full-screen high-definition and mobile platforms....

Reimagining the brainiest member of the Scooby-Doo gang, Velma recently premiered on HBO Max. Featuring the voice of executive producer Mindy Kaling as the titular mystery-solver, the series pulled in very high viewership upon the premiere of its first two episodes. This made Velma the most-watched premiere for an original animated series on HBO Max in the streaming platform’s history. “Thank you everyone for watching!” Kaling said in a tweet touting the news....

The National Hockey League (NHL) and Warner Bros. Pictures have teamed on an integrated marketing campaign to promote the studio’s highly anticipated film 300. The NHL and its Member Clubs will support the release of 300, which is set to open in theaters nationwide March 9, with a TV spot, co-branded merchandise, on-line promotions and player appearances, all as part of the NHL’s “Quest for the Cup” initiative. The 30-second TV promo features NHL game action and mixes dramatic shots of NHL players and the Stanley Cup with battle scenes and dialogue from the film....

It has taken Neil Gaiman a long time to bring The Sandman to screens and for that reason, he will defend it with all his heart against online trolls. The Sandman comes to Netflix next week and while the trailers have excited the vast majority of the comic book franchise’s fan base, there has been a small number that have made a lot of noise on social media about certain casting choices....

We finally have a release date set in stone for The Sandman on Netflix. At Netflix’s Geeked Week event, Neil Gaiman, Allan Heinberg, and the cast of The Sandman appeared for a panel about the series and unveiled an all-new teaser trailer. Also announced was the official premiere date which confirms that the series will start streaming globally on Netflix starting on Aug. 5, 2022. You can watch the new teaser below....

Netflix has acquired Fantastic Beasts director David Yates’ next film, Pain Hustlers, for a staggering $50 million. Emily Blunt is attached to star in the film, which is described as a conspiracy comedy-drama, similar in tone to American Hustle, The Big Short, and The Wolf of Wall Street. The plot synopsis for Pain Hustlers (via Deadline) reads: Although Pain Hustlers’ premise is quite intriguing, is the film really worth $50 million?...

With the release of Liongate’s five Blu-ray DVDs they have unleashed Metamenu Technology upon consumers. In a story from Yahoo!, Crash, Lord of War, The Punisher, Saw and Terminator 2: Judgment Day all contain Metamenu System 1.0 technology. Here’s how the new technology works, “traditional DVDs, often open with menu loops and imaginative navigation models, Metamenu discs open by default with a 20-second orientation video, then immediately play the movie. A timer counts down to the main attraction while an animated interface loads and a voiceover explains how to use the simple Metamenu system....

That’s a wrap on season 1 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
