Given the success of the Cobra Kai, it’s undeniable that the TV series continuation was the right way to go when it came to rebooting The Karate Kid. After starring in all three original films in the series, former child star Ralph Macchio reprised his role as Daniel LaRusso alongside William Zabka as his former rival Johnny Lawrence in Cobra Kai. The series was far from the first idea for a legacy sequel to be pitched to Macchio, though it was the first one that intrigued him enough to have him sign on....

Movie Picture Man, what a year 2007 was, huh? I’m personally taking to calling it the “Year of The Taser”. There was that guy at the Canadian airport, the pregnant woman, a whole bunch of others, leading up to mister “Don’t Tase Me, Bro!” back at that Kerry convention. By now you’re probably shaking your heads, wondering just what the hell I’m up to, anyway. Well, I figured it was high time I shook things up just a bit, and in that vein, I’m taking an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone....

It’s been quite a bumpy ride for the cast and crew of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The prequel series to the iconic fantasy stories, while overall successful, had its fair share of criticism from hardcore Tolkien fans. In an interview with Vanity Fair, showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay made it clear that those criticisms were heard and will have an impact on later seasons. Payne says the following....

C-20 (Sasha Lane) and a squad of Minutemen exit a time portal, “Variant detected commander.” An attendee chastises them for not dressing up. They enter a dark tent, but can detect “no nexus energy.” A speaker blares a festival introduction, C-20 announces “it’s a trap” and “watch your backs.” A hand touches C-20’s head, her eyes turn green....

Magic Johnson’s 1998 late-night talk show The Magic Hour had a vocal critic in shock jock Howard Stern, who regularly mocked Johnson’s hosting abilities. In an attempt to boost ratings, Stern was booked as a guest on the talk show so that Johnson could confront him. While being interviewed by The Magic Hour host, Stern’s answers were widely inappropriate and pushed the limits even for him. While promoting an April 22 release of his new docuseries They Call Me Magic on Apple TV+, which covers his life and career, including the time he spent as The Magic Hour host, Johnson spoke to Variety about Stern’s appearance on the program....

It’s the fifth anniversary of Carrie Fisher’s death, and the beloved Star Wars star is getting a lot of love from her fans along with those who knew her best. Given her involvement in the Star Wars franchise, many fans and fellow stars from the series are honoring Fisher for the occasion. Leading the way is Mark Hamill, who posted a screenshot from the Star Wars tribute to Fisher that says, “In Loving Memory of our Princess Carrie Fisher....

MGM has, quietly, released the news that they plan to bring back RoboCop - the first police officer designed for the twenty-first century. In a press release announcing the promotion of Mary Parent from Vice Chairman of Worldwide Production to Chairperson, Worldwide Motion Picture Group, MGM said the following about their upcoming slate of projects: With the appointment of Parent, MGM will enter its new phase of evolution by focusing on its major movie franchises highlighted by James Bond and Pink Panther sequels, The Hobbit, The Thomas Crown Affair 2, The Outer Limits, RoboCop, Death Wish and Fame, among others....

Mortal Kombat star Lewis Tan has teased a “bigger” and even more “insane” sequel to last year’s hit martial arts fantasy epic. Tan will return as newly created character Cole Young in Mortal Kombat 2, with the actor and martial artist revealing that he has been “training [his] ass off” in order to once again battle villains from the Outworld. Warner Bros. officially greenlit the Mortal Kombat sequel earlier this year, with Moon Knight writer Jeremy Slater tapped to pen the script....

When you hear the word mumblecore, you may have no idea what it means, even though you have probably seen a film that fits in the genre. Mumblecore is a subgenre of independent film, defined by its low-budget and naturalistic dialogue. It was largely started by indie film king Joe Swanberg, Mark Duplass, and Andrew Bujalski. The emphasis of these stories is on the dialogue and the characters themselves; the plot tends to take a backseat....

Looks like Coraline and American Gods author Neil Gaiman’s classic Vertigo comic The Sandman is finally heading to a screen near you soon. Yes, it seems that Wonder Woman and Grey’s Anatomy writer Allan Heinberg will serve as the showrunner and head writer for the new Netflix series with Gaiman serving as the show’s executive producer alongside The Dark Knight and Blade screenwriter David S. Goyer. Evidently, this live-action The Sandman series will be the most expensive TV series DC Entertainment has ever done, although Netflix has declined to comment at the moment....

Spoofing the song “America” from the hit musical West Side Story, the clip begins with Donald Trump in the Oval Office muttering to himself how he needs a distraction. He then picks up a framed photo of congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib and starts mocking them in song....

A series of new character posters for The Walking Dead season 9 have been revealed, highlighting those amongst the core cast that have managed to survive this long. We’re rapidly closing in on a decade’s worth of stories within the post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland crafted by Robert Kirkman, initially in his Image Comics series of the same name. In that time, lots of beloved characters have met their demise and these new images are a sobering reminder of just how many have bit the dust over the years....

When Fox brought back their iconic sci-fi series The X-Files with a brand new six-episode event series, the show’s global launch set a new ratings record, with over 50 million viewers watching the premiere in over 80 countries. Since then, there has been plenty of talk about a potential return for another season. Series creator Chris Carter stated in February that he had already started talks with the network, while Fox Television chairman Dana Walden teasing in May that a new season will happen, and that he hopes to offer an official announcement by this May....

With NBCUniversal looking to strengthen their library of exclusive content for the new streaming service Peacock, a reboot of Dick Wolf’s New York Undercover is now in development. While a deal hasn’t yet been finalized, word is that the reboot is “expected” to be given a series commitment. The project is being developed by Wolf, Universal Television, and Ayanna Floyd Davis, who served as the showrunner for The Chi. For the new New York Undercover, Floyd will also serve as showrunner, executive producing alongside Wolf, Peter Jankowksi, and Arthur Forney of Wolf Entertainment....
