The film follows a group of American soldiers who drops behind enemy lines for a search and recovery mission during World War II. However, they are unaware that the Black Forest they have entered is a horrific coven that will bring terror upon them far more dangerous than the Nazis. NBC has canceled the daytime soap, Passions after nearly eight years on the air. Known for its young-skewing supernatural storylines, the news comes with the announcement of the fourth hour of Today, notes Variety. to four hours (Daily Variety, Jan. 15). NBC’s contract for Passions runs until June, but since the extra hour of Today won’t begin until the fall, it’s expected the Peacock will try to extend the show through August....

“New in Town” is one of those bubbly, fish-out-water romcom’s that I normally despise and relish in trashing. But damnit if that Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr. actually pull it off. It pains me to admit, and I may be distinctly in the minority here, but I really liked this film. It’s predictable to the second, but so well acted by the cast, you find yourself smiling in all the places you should be smiling....

Peacock has released a new trailer for the upcoming Saved by the Bell reboot. The meta-comedy discusses the dangers of caffeine pills while taking the new class to the Max, with actor Ed Alonzo back practicing magic as the restaurant’s owner. Once again, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen are not included in the new footage, while Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley are prominently featured. The show was forced to shut down production before Gosselaar and Thiessen were able to shoot their return....

Variety reports that Oren Peli, Jason Blum and Steven Schneider (the group behind Paranormal Activity) have signed a five-picture deal with Canadian distributor Alliance Films. Alliance will finance and produce their low-budget genre pictures. The first picture in the deal is Insidious, from James Wan and Leigh Whannell (the creators of the Saw franchise).
