Moammar Gadhafi is financing a new film entitled Years of Torment. According to Variety, he will put up fifty million dollars for this film about the Italian occupation of Libya. The film will focus on the three decade Italian occupation of Libya from 1911-43. It will be told via firsthand accounts written by Libyans and international witnesses. The project will mark the directorial debut of Najdat Anzour. Anzour stated, “The film is being made in the spirit of reconciliation and dialogue and because we need to remind people about Libya’s history....

Rachel Dratch will be playing more than just one role on the new NBC comedy, 30 Rock. She was originally scheduled to play Jenna DeCarlo, an actress on The Girlie Show, the show-within-a-show on 30 Rock. But with the focus of 30 Rock moving away from The Girlie Show and more toward the interaction among stars Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan, the show’s exec producers decided to scrap Dratch’s character, notes Variety....

Last year, Netflix renewed A Series of Unfortunate Events through Season Three, and Neil Patrick Harris has announced that the upcoming season will be its last. This isn’t that big of a shock to fans of the Netflix series. The show is based off of the wildly popular book series of the same name by Lemony Snicket, aka Daniel Handler, which has 13 books in total. Season One told the story of books 1 through 4, Season Two took on books 5 through 8, and Season Three will conclude the series with books 9 through 13....

It’s not hard to argue that DC TV is doing way better both critically and with fans than the cinematic side of this comic book universe. The CW has a stellar line-up already running throughout the week, with The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow dominating the small screen landscape when it comes to superheroes. And Fox is doing a bang-up job with Gotham and Lucifer. Soon, a new DC TV Show will be announced....

Actor Thomas Jane’s official website has just premiered the trailer for his upcoming film, The Mutant Chronicles, which currently doesn’t have a release date set. Some television casting news has come in tonight. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Orla Brady has joined the cast of CBS’ Shark. She will be playing James Woods’ ex-wife on the series. She is signed for a number of unspecified episodes. In other news, Emily Rose will be featured on multiple episodes of both ABC’s Brothers & Sisters and CBS’ Jericho. Rose will appear on eight episodes of Brothers & Sisters playing a friend of Rebecca’s (Emily VanCamp)....

At tonight’s 94th annual Academy Awards, multiple actors addressed Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill and Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s lackluster response to it. The ceremony kicked off with Oscar hosts Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall commenting on the anti-gay legislation going on in Florida. “Well, we’re going to have a great night tonight and for you people in Florida, we’re going to have a gay night,” Sykes said. Unshô Ishizuka, the incredibly successful and famous Japanese voice actor best known for his work with Pokémon anime, has passed away at age 67. He reportedly passed on August 13 from esophageal cancer. Ishizuka had the voice acting career that most voice actors only dream of having. Since he first picked up voice acting in 1984, Ishizuka earned himself over 250 acting credits, with a majority of his work being in anime....

Acclaimed television, film and Broadway star Katie Holmes will appear in a major guest starring role in the highly anticipated third season of the hit Showtime drama series Ray Donovan. Lost’s Rebecca Mader has signed on for NALA Films’ coming-of-age romantic comedy Ceremony and the Antonio Banderas noir mystery The Big Bang, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ceremony, directed by Max Winkler from his own script, follows a young man (Michael Angarano) and his best friend who crash the wedding of a thirysomething woman (Uma Thurman) with whom the young man is infatuated. Mader plays a married member of Thurman’s wedding party who makes overtures toward Angarano....

Robert Downey Jr. has exited Oz: The Great and Powerful, Disney’s prequel to The Wizard of Oz tale, and the studio is in discussions with Johnny Depp for the role of the great wizard, according to Heat Vision. Sam Raimi is set to direct the tale of Oz as a young illusionist with a grandiose attitude who is forced to flee a traveling circus. His hot air balloon is swept up by a tornado to the land of Oz, which is run by two magical wicked witches....

The Magic Mike movies helped establish Channing Tatum as more than just a Hollywood pretty boy while furthering the genre-jumping reputation of director Steven Soderbergh. They also helped kick off the long-running partnership between the leading man and the director that led to such collaborations as Logan Lucky and Side Effects. Magic Mike and its sequel Magic Mike XXL were released to critical praise and grossed nearly $300 million combined. I Am Legend co-writer Mark Protosevich is in early talks to write the remake of Old Boy that Will Smith is developing with director Steven Spielberg, according to The Hollywood Reporter. DreamWorks secured the remake rights from Mandate Pictures, which also is staying involved in the project. Although the studio was meeting with several high-profile writers to do the adaptation, Smith invited Protosevich to meet with Spielberg on the project....
