It’s The Matrix versus vampires; the trilogy begins now! Timur Bekmambetov on Night Watch If you haven’t heard already, The Russians Are Coming! And they’re invading the big screen. Russian writer and director, Timur Bekmambetov, is bringing his Night Watch trilogy to America. The series is about a war between two sides the Light and the Dark, better known as Night Watch and Day Watch. In the first film, Night Watch, hundreds of years of peace between the two groups has passed, but another war has grown imminent....

We reported last March that Fox picked up the screen rights to a 1938 children’s novel and now they may have found a director. Variety is reporting that Noah Baumbach is in talks to direct Mr. Popper’s Penguins and Ben Stiller is in talks to star in the film. The site reported that both Baumbach and Stiller are just in talks as of now and no deal has been reached yet....

Strange Way of Life, a short film starring Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke as gunslingers who become lovers, will be premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The news comes straight from director Pedro Almodóvar, who announced on Dua Lipa’s At Your Service podcast (via Variety) that the short will be debuting at the prestigious festival. Almodóvar also shared some new details about the film, which runs a half-hour long, describing Strange Way of Life as a “queer Western, in the sense that there are two men and they love each other....

A Disney classic is back on top of the home video charts, and that’s no lie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pinocchio’s new 70th Anniversary Edition was the top-selling DVD for the week ending March 15. The disc also topped the Blu-ray sales charts in impressive fashion. It was said that 15% of the discs’ sales were in the Blu-ray format, a high percentage for a family title. Also debuting this week were the comedy Role Models and the actioner Transporter 3, both of which had solid opening weeks....

AMC’s Preacher premiered their San Diego Comic-Con trailer for Season 3 and it’s pretty messed up. God is there, the Devil is there, vampires are there, Hitler makes an appearance, and there’s talks of bees as a form of torture. It’s perfectly over the top and exactly what fans of the show have been waiting for. The trailer teasers that have been released over the past few weeks have nothing on the nearly 2-minute trailer for Season 3....

IMAX Corporation recently announced that the epic action-adventure Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, from hit-making producer Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Mike Newell and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Sir Ben Kingsley and Alfred Molina will open in 53 IMAX theaters internationally, with 20 of those IMAX locations opening this week starting on May 19. The remaining IMAX locations will open the film in conjunction with its wide release starting on May 28, 2010....

Earlier today, the CW Network announced its 2011-2012 fall lineup, which includes the new series Ringer starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. The news from the set of Iron Man 2 is coming at us fast and furious, with the latest news being that Robert Downey Jr.’s armor-clad superhero will be caught in a love triangle in this film, between his assistant Pepper Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, and the Russian superspy the Black Widow, portrayed by Scarlett Johansson. Downey confirmed the news to MTV while doing publicity for The Soloist. Fans of the first Iron Man will recall that there was a strong romantic connection between Downey’s Tony Stark and Paltrow’s Pepper Potts in the first film, although that romance remained unacted upon - with Potts even helping to send some one of Stark’s earlier romantic conquests on her way the morning after....

Divisive director M. Night Shyamalan has compared his latest outing, next month’s Knock at the Cabin, to one of his earliest hits: the 2002 science fiction horror movie Signs. Speaking with Total Film, Shyamalan compared Knock at the Cabin and Signs, particularly the limited locations and the way both plots center on a family. Based on the 2018 novel The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul G. Tremblay, Knock at the Cabin begins with a family heading off on a vacation at a remote cabin....

IAM Entertainment producers Scott Glassgold and Raymond Brothers are developing a movie built around the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The producers are currently meeting with writers to develop the concept for this project. One premise which has been discussed involves the giant floats in the parade coming to life.
