NBC is flip-flopping a fall series and a midseason series due to an actress fallling ill. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is moving its new series Parenthood to a midseason premiere. The move is due to Parenthood star Maura Tierney’s undisclosed medical ailment. While the studio wouldn’t disclose more information, they released the following statement: Parenthood was slotted for a September 23 premiere and was scheduled to air on Wednesday nights at 8 PM ET, and now the network is calling up one of its midseason series’ early....

NBC has rewarded “My Name Is Earl” (Thursdays, 9-9:30 p.m. ET) and supplied “The Office” (Thursdays, 9:30-10 p.m. ET) with full-season orders of 22 episodes each through the 2006-07 season, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment. “The strength of the ratings and performance and the quality of these two shows make this a very easy decision,” said Reilly. “We are confident that these comedies will only continue to increase in popularity....

Religion, romance, workplace comedy, and the apocalypse. You wouldn’t typically think one television show could feature all these elements, but Netflix’s God’s Favorite Idiot blends them together to great success. Real-life spouses and frequent collaborators Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone’s chemistry shines against the bleak backdrop of the incoming apocalypse. The series’s first season is set to contain 16 episodes, 8 of which have already aired. In the first half, Falcone’s Clark discovered that he was chosen by God to share his message and prevent Satan from bringing on the apocalypse....

This reboot has been gestating for a long time but finally found a home on the world’s largest streaming service in 2016. Electric Mayhem, the band within The Muppets, has announced some additions to the cast of the forthcoming series, The Muppets Mayhem. The show will stream on Disney+, giving fans another Muppets series to enjoy on the platform. In a tweet from the official Electric Mayhem account, Lilly Singh, Saara Chaudry, Tahj Mowry, and Anders Holm were all confirmed to be joining the cast. You can find the tweet below. Chaudry will play Hannah in the show, who’s taken her online make-up tutorials and turned them into a social media empire....

Close to three months have gone by since the initial buy-out of DreamWorks SKG by Viacom, the media giant and parent company of Paramount Pictures. Now, it looks like they’re getting some help on the cost. It became official when George Soros, a Hollywood billionaire and European philanthropist, and Dune Entertainment took control of the 59 live-action film titles previously held by DreamWorks for a price tag of $900 million. That deal will stand for the next five years, but does not include anything from DreamWorks Animation, still headed by Jeffrey Katzenberg....

Fast & Furious action star and producer Paul Walker has a two-year first-look production contract with Universal Pictures to house his Laguna Ridge Pictures. The first project under this agreement is the action thriller Skyscraper, based on an original idea by Mike Sobel. Paul Walker will executive produce and star, with Neal H. Moritz’s Original Films producing. The action star said this about the relationship with the studios: Walker’s most recent film with the studio, Fast Five, grossed over $630 million dollars at the worldwide box office, making it one of the biggest films in Universal’s history....

On the run from the Royal Navy, Captain Jack Sparrow stumbles into a blacksmith’s shop where he is confronted by the apprentice, Will Turner (played Orlando Bloom). As it turns out, Will is the son of a respected pirate who was murdered when he opposed a mutiny. This streak of goodwill and justice from his father, Bootstrap Bill, was passed onto him. Yet, when faced with who would replace Davy Jones, it was down to Jack and Will, one who wanted to evade death and the other who welcomed a different world where being a pirate wasn’t the mark of a traitor to the crown....

Filming has begun in Vancouver on Revolution Studios’ Are We Done Yet?, a sequel to the hit comedy Are We There Yet? The film, which is being directed by Steve Carr and reunites stars Ice Cube and Nia Long, will be released by Columbia Pictures on April 6, 2007. A follow-up to the hilarious 2005 family comedy hit Are We There Yet?,(which grossed $100 million worldwide), Are We Done Yet? picks up where the last story left off....

TV pilot season is currently in full swing, with networks putting out offers to actors to join the cast for their new pilots. Surprisingly, one of the most in-demand stars this pilot season is The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan, who has reportedly been offered upwards of six different pilots to star in, which has lead to speculation that her character Maggie Rhee will be killed off of the hit zombie series in the back half of Season 8....

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Devil’s Workshop, a new horror film with a cast including Emile Hirsch and Radha Mitchell. The film will be available in select theaters, on demand, and digital on Sept. 30, 2022, followed by a Blu-ray and DVD release on Nov. 8. The critics have spoken, and Poker Face is a universal hit. Just ahead of the show’s official debut on Peacock, the early reviews from critics have been unanimous with their praise for the Rian Johnson series, garnering Poker Face a perfect score of 100% at Rotten Tomatoes. We’ll have to see how the series fares with viewers with its audience score after its release, but as of now, the critics have all been very much enjoying the new show....

The producers of The Grudge present Rise: Blood Hunter, a terrifying new thriller starring Lucy Liu (Kill Bill), Michael Chiklis (Fantastic Four), Carla Gugino (Sin City) and James D’Arcy (Exorcist: The Beginning). Written and directed by Sebastian Gutierrez (Snakes on a Plane), Rise: Blood Hunter premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival’s Midnight Screening. Liu stars as Sadie Blake, an investigative reporter who makes a pact with detective Clyde Rawlins, played by Chiklis, to seek revenge on a vampire cult that is taking over the city of Los Angeles....

Legendary actors Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are looking to reunite once more on a new film that Martin Scorsese is developing entitled The Irishman, according to Deadline New York. The project is being set up at Paramount. The story revolves around the true-life exploits of mafia contract killer Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran. Robert De Niro and his producing partner Jane Rosenthal have been developing the movie with Martin Scorsese, and it was stated that Joe Pesci is eyeing a role as well....

The “Night Chronicles” film series may have dropped M. Night Shyamalan from their title, but the writer/director still rests at the heart of this horror anthology that debuts September 17th with Devil. While out promoting Devil, which will be followed by Twelve Strangers sometime next year, M. Night Shyamalan talked about the proposed, as-yet titled third film in the series, which he told MTV owed its villain to the never produced Unbreakable 2....
