MTV: Music Television and Sean “Diddy” Combs today announced open call auditions for MTV’s hit returning series Making the Band 4 to kick off on January 17th in Los Angeles. And for the first time ever candidates who are unable to make the open calls can post their audition videos on-line via makingtheband.MTV.com allowing viewers the opportunity to vote for their favorite Making The Band 4 candidates. The series is scheduled to premiere in Q2 ‘07 and will chronicle Diddy as he sets out to form an all new boy band....

Relativity Media has acquired the Grant Pierce Myers screenplay Ness/Capone, which landed on the 2010 Black List of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays. While the movie will still center on the Prohibition-Era due between lawman Elliot Ness and gangster Al Capone, Ness/Capone will offer a much different look at Elliot Ness, compared to how he was portrayed by Kevin Costner in The Untouchables. When Grant Pierce Myers looked back at Elliot Ness’ history, he discovered Ness was actually a publicity hound who personally took great pride whenever he won a victory over Al Capone....

Overture Films is acquiring U.S. distribution rights to the dramatic thriller Stone, Overture CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett announced today. The film stars Oscar-winner Robert De Niro (Raging Bull), Oscar-nominee Edward Norton (Fight Club), Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil franchise) and Golden Globe-winner Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under). John Curran (The Painted Veil) directs Angus MacLachlan’s (Junebug) script about a convicted arsonist (Norton) who looks to manipulate a parole officer (De Niro) into a plan to secure his parole by placing his beautiful wife (Jovovich) in the lawman’s path....

It looks like something is stirring in team PAW Patrol. Rubble, the English Bulldog, is getting his own spinoff! According to Deadline, the announcement was made last Thursday at Nickelodeon’s upfront. If you have young children, it’s hard to ignore those pups. PAW Patrol is a children’s series featured on both Nickelodeon and its preschool block, Nick Jr. The series follows the PAW Patrol, a team of search and rescue dogs that protect their local community, Adventure Bay....

Actor Pedro Pascal has offered some insight into the journey that Din Djarin will embark on in The Mandalorian Season 3, revealing that it will be a journey towards leadership. In an interview featured in the latest issue of Total Film (via Games Radar), Pascal explained the mindset of The Mandalorian going into the third season and how the character will develop. The first season of The Mandalorian picks up a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, around five years after the events of Return of the Jedi and the fall of the Galactic Empire....

Actresses Missi Pyle (The Artist), Yvette Nicole Brown (Community), and Mary Birdsong (The Descendants) have all joined the cast of Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. All three actresses will play Fates in this sequel to 2010’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians: Lightning Thief. Logan Lerman is returning as the title character, along with Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth and Brandon T. Jackson as Grover. Japan takes a new approach with its aged population in Chie Hayakawa’s Plan 75. The dystopian drama, in which Hayakawa makes her directorial debut, premiered at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard section. The movie tells the haunting story of how a government program deals with Japan’s problem of a “super-aged” society. Hayakawa deals with the program through different perspectives, loosely intertwining the fates of three separate characters. The film is noted to be devoid of a fully dystopian feel, instead carrying a hauntingly real quality with a high emphasis on human feelings and a sense of duty....

Natasha Lyonne takes the lead role in Poker Face, a new series from Glass Onion writer-director Rian Johnson. In the new Peacock series, Lyonne plays Charlie Cale, a human lie detector who, after previously using her powers to make money as a professional cardsharp, is settling in for a quieter life when her best friend is murdered. Our first official look at Priscilla has been revealed. In the works at A24, the film is a Priscilla Presley biopic that takes inspiration from her 1985 memoir Elvis and Me, detailing the relationship with the King of Rock ’n’ Roll and the only woman he ever married. Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation) wrote the script and is directing the film, and as has been reported, Cailee Spaeny (Mare of Easttown, Bad Times at the El Royale) stars as Priscilla....

The animated comedy series Q-Force will only last for one season. TVLine reports that the show has been axed at Netflix with no second season in development, meaning season 1’s finale will now serve as the series finale of the short-lived show. The first season had premiered on the streaming platform in September 2021 and had remained on the bubble ever since as far as awaiting news for a renewal....

Writer, comedian, actress, and producer Quinta Brunson has made Emmy history. Brunson’s Abbott Elementary on ABC has earned nominations in the Outstanding Comedy Series and actor categories following its wildly popular first season. As the show’s creator and one of its stars, Brunson herself earned nominations for Outstanding Actress and for writing the pilot, making her the first Black woman to receive comedy nominations in the acting, writing, and series categories....

The Reno Sheriff’s Department is back for more. Quibi has released a new trailer for Reno 911! ahead of the show’s return later this month. The short-form streaming service resurrected the show earlier this year, bringing back the entire original cast for a new series of adventures, albeit in shorter, bite-sized bits. Now, the second half of the season is heading our way and, as we can see, there will be some big cameos....

While the previous Resident Evil movie series from director Paul W.S. Anderson seemed to go on forever, we could be looking at a one-and-done deal for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. Filmmaker Johannes Roberts came into the reboot as a big fan of the original video games and sought to restart the series from scratch with a new take that better embraces Resident Evil’s horror roots. The result is a movie that’s much more familiar to fans of the video games, which includes characters like Avan Jogia’s Leon Kennedy stepping into the spotlight....
