With his final comedy special, late comedian Norm Macdonald has become an Emmy nominee. On Tuesday, NBC unveiled the full list of nominations for the 24th Primetime Emmy Awards. For his comedy special Nothing Special, which was released on Netflix after Macdonald’s death, Macdonald has scored three nominations. This marks the first time Macdonald has been recognized by the Television Academy for his comedy work. Nothing Special is nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) with the other nominees including Adele: One Night Only, Dave Chappelle: The Closer, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, and One Last Time: An Evening With Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga....

Horror author Joe Hill is seeing his novel NOS4A2 adapted for the small screen by AMC, and the pilot episode alone is must-see television. Premiering at this year’s SXSW Conference and Festivals, the first episode of the upcoming horror series had a packed house and seemingly impressed everyone in the audience. With the decline in viewership for The Walking Dead over the past couple years, AMC is undoubtedly looking for new hit shows to keep the network going strong, and they’ve certainly found something strong here with NOS4A2....

It is well known that you have to go some way to manage to drop an F-bomb in a Disney+ TV series. Despite Oscar Isaac trying his hardest to be the first person to utter the profanity in the MCU, he recently revealed how his personal quest while filming Moon Knight ultimately failed. In the hit new Marvel series, Isaac plays the dual roles of tough mercenary Marc Spector and the less than heroic Steven Grant, both of whom have an alter-ego that draws supernatural powers from the Egyptian moon god Khonshu....

Paul Dano has expressed slight interest in returning to The Batman series as Edward Nashton/The Riddler. The actor played the DC Comics villain in Matt Reeves’ critically acclaimed noir-superhero movie, a widely praised role. Dano’s portrayal of The Riddler further sparked discussions on the unique approach toward a comic book villain and allegorical interpretations of his psychological condition. And now, Paul Dano’s connection with the character has led him to pen down an entire comic book series focusing on Nashton’s origins....

Just a few days after it was revealed that Phineas and Ferb will air a Shaun of the Dead-themed episode with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost voicing Shaun and Ed, the series has set a September 29 premiere date for its Lost-themed episode “Lost in Danville”. Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof wrote the episode, with Terry O’Quinn, who played Locke on the hit ABC series, voicing Professor Mystery, who is hatching a sinister plan....

Once again, no surprises that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was going to win the weekend box office this weekend. The real question was, would it break the weekend box office record “Spiderman” set back in 2002 with $114 million. Well, that was pretty much answered with another opening day record won by Pirates on Friday with $55.5 million, according to Box Office Mojo. The Disney flick not only beat the weekend record, but absolutely triumphed it with $132 million....

Much as Walt Disney did with the second two sequels Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Hitfix has learned exclusively that the next two installments of the franchise after Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will also shoot back-to-back. The cast and crew have reportedly been told to set aside a major block of time in the very near future so that both Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and Pirates of the Caribbean 6 can be completed as one giant movie that will be split into two parts....

More shows shut down production today due to the writers’ strike sweeping Hollywood. According to Variety, both The New Adventures of Old Christine and Back to You have gone dark due to their leads walking in support of the picket lines. Other shows that have followed suit include ‘Til Death and Rules of Engagement. One of the very first shows to shut down was The Office, which closed when Steve Carrell and most of the other actors on the program refused to cross the picket line....

Among the many unanswered questions fans may have regarding Prometheus, one of them is what the MPAA rating will be. Director Ridley Scott recently said that he is aiming for an R rating, although it could be tailored for a PG-13 release. The filmmaker also spoke about the space jockey, and how he was surprised that Alien sequels Aliens and Alien 3 didn’t explore this character. “The question is, do you go for the PG-13, [which] financially makes quite a difference, or do you go for what it should be, which is R?...

Entertainment Tonight recently chatted with Robert Downey Jr., while promoting his upcoming film The Soloist, and he revealed some new details on his upcoming sequel, Iron Man 2. Here’s the excerpt that deals with Iron Man 2 is said to go before cameras shortly and is set for a May 7, 2010 release. “The film is almost entirely about character, and yet we still have twice as much action as we did last time, so it’s going to be nuts,” Robert tells our own Thea Andrews of the super sequel, set to start filming Monday....

This idea is taken to the extreme in his most recent effort as producer of the film, Pathology. Filled with more gruesome scenes that you can shake a stick at, this medical/horror/thriller is about a group of med students who hatch a scheme to see who can commit the perfect crime – one that even a fellow pathologist couldn’t unravel....
