Universal Pictures has just launched a brand new viral website for Repo Men, due in theaters on April 2, at TheUnionCares.com. In the film, consumers can purchase artificial organs through a high-priced company dubbed The Union, but if you can’t pay for these new organs, the Repo Men will come for you. The world of Resident Evil has come a long way since the original video game launched in 1996, bringing some genuinely terrifying moments featuring shambling zombies, speedy undead dogs, and giant spiders to the PS1. Rick Springfield will be taking his clothes off during his upcoming guest appearance on Showtime’s Californication, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s not full-frontal, but it’s pretty much full on,” the 60-year-old musician-actor says. “As long as it’s for the part, I’m cool with it. And it’s funny. It’s not done to be particularly sexy.” Springfield will appear on four episodes, and he sheds his clothes by the end of the season....

It might seem soon to be thinking about a Halloween DVD but don’t tell that to Rob Zombie. In a story from Fangoria, Zombie states that he is currently editing a documentary on the making of Halloween that will be similar to his “30 Days In Hell” film that came as a bonus feature on the The Devil’s Rejects DVD. Zombie also says that the eventual disc will contain a lot of deleted scenes featuring the likes of Adrienne Barbeau, Udo Kier and Clint Howard....

According to a press release that Fangoria received, aspiring female filmmakers can apply for a full scholarship to Rogue Studios’ EmpowHER Female Filmmaking program courtesy of Puppet Killer director Lisa Ovies. She launched the program earlier in the spring, following years of traveling the film festival circuit and attending numerous pitch meetings as one of, if not the only, female director or writer in a space. She would also meet women who would constantly be telling her how much they would have loved to get behind the camera and tell stories....

Things are about to get Looney! It’ll be “wabbit” season once again when Warner Home Video releases Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume Five and Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection Volume Five on DVD October 30, 2007. Both titles will feature a treasury of classic cartoons, including some rarely seen shorts. Netflix has been wielding the ax on many projects in the last few weeks following a devastating loss of subscribers and a huge drop in share prices that sent shock waves through the streaming giant. It seems that when it comes to trimming the fat, even some of their most high profile partnerships are not completely immune to the chop as Meghan Markle’s animated series Pearl has been dropped from Netflix’s in development projects, as reported by Deadline....

Next year you can finally see an early film classic the way it was originally intended to be seen. According to The Digital Bits, a new DVD and Blu-Ray version of the 1927 film Metropolis will be released in 2009 that will include previously-lost footage that was discovered yearlier this year and made public last week. The footage was discovered by the curator of the Museo del Cine in Buenos Aires, Argentina in January....

Actor Neil Patrick Harris will make his feature directorial debut with the new teen comedy Aaron and Sarah, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Emma Roberts and Josh Hutcherson are attached to star in the movie, which follows a relationship through all four years of high school. Pushing Daisies writers Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey wrote the script, which follows Emma Roberts and Josh Hutcherson’s characters as they become friends during their freshman year of high school....

Summit Entertainment has slated the release date for New Moon – the sequel to vampire romance Twilight for Friday, November 20, 2009. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Summit distribution boss Richie Fay said “Same time, same place. If it’s also the same gross, we’ll be very pleased. Hopefully, we’ll have even better results.” Execs at Summit – which announced plans for a sequel on just the second day of release for Twilight – just confirmed that Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) will direct New Moon....

Walt Disney Home Entertainment has announced it will release three new sets under the Walt Disney Treasures collection on November 11. The new sets, which will be the eighth volume in the Treasures collection, are Destino, Dr Syn, Alias the Scarecrow and Chronological Donald, Volume 4.
