Patty Fox has been named fashion coordinator of the 78th Academy Awards® telecast, producer Gil Cates announced today. In 2001, for the 73rd Academy Awards, Fox served for the first time as fashion coordinator, after having orchestrated the Academy’s annual fashion previews for the previous decade for Fred Hayman. Trained as a fashion designer, Fox is the author of two books, Star Style: Hollywood Legends as Fashion Icons and Star Style at the Academy Awards®....

Sony Pictures has hired screenwriter John Hlavin to pen their board game adaptation Risk. We first reported on this project way back in November 2009, when Sony acquired the rights to the Hasbro property. The story is said to be a “global action thriller” based on the game, although little else is known about the script that John Hlavin is now working on. Risk was created in 1957 by French director Albert Lamorisse under the title ‘The Conquest of the World’....

It would appear that it’s up to Disney if Freaky Friday 2 happens, as both lead stars of the 2003 film would be on board for a sequel. While doing some press for Halloween Ends, Jamie Lee Curtis recently named Freaky Friday as another classic film of hers she wants to revisit. In fact, she has gone so far as to personally pitch the film to Disney, hoping to reunite with Lindsay Lohan in a follow-up movie....

Lindsay Lohan is set to star as the legendary Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime Original Movie Liz & Dick, based on the true story of the screen icon’s historic romance with actor Richard Burton. Principal photography on the movie will begin in early June in Los Angeles, it was announced today by Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President, Programming, of Lifetime Networks. For nearly a quarter of a century, Taylor and Burton were Hollywood royalty and their fiery romance - often called “the marriage of the century” - was the most notorious, publicized and celebrated love affair of its day....

DreamWorks Animation has set Frances McDormand to voice the villain in Madagascar 3, the studio’s latest installment of the zoo animal-based franchise, reports Heat Vision. Eric Darnell is directing the project, which was written by Noah Baumbach with Mireille Soria and Mark Swift producing. Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith are slated to reprise their roles as big-game animals who escaped a New York zoo and end up on the island off the African coast....

It was as if Christmas came early for superhero movie fans when it was announced that Hugh Jackman would be returning as Wolverine for Deadpool 3.
