It’s only fitting that a National Treasure scores big the week before a national holiday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets was by far the best-selling DVD in the week ending May 25. The disc received little competition from newcomers as the new editions of the Indiana Jones trilogy, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade finished second, third and fourth, respectively....

A mighty protector has returned from the depths once more! Earlier today, Netflix Japan released a teaser on social media for a project titled Gamera: Rebirth. The teaser can be viewed below. The teaser in question leaves a lot to the imagination. A slow pan-up reveals the silhouette of the iconic kaiju, then cuts to a close-up of the creature’s eye. As the teaser cuts to black, we hear the roar of the beast, then see the title....

Fox has ordered an additional 11 episodes of the hit comedy New Girl, bringing the series to a 24-episode season order, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we’re knocked out with the work that Elizabeth Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the upcoming episodes in the pipeline,” said Reilly....

Last week, fans got finally got story details and the first photos from Stranger Things Season 2, including confirmation that all-new episodes will premiere on Halloween. The premiere will find these young friends in Hawkins, Indiana dressed up as the Ghostbusters. None of those photos featured any of the new characters. But today we have our first look at Max, a young tomboy who will befriend the boys, played by Sadie Sink....

The Obamas are heading to Netflix. We first got wind that former President Barack Obama and his wife and former First Lady Michelle Obama were in talks for a production deal with the streaming service in March. Now, it’s official as Netflix and the duo have announced their new partnership. The multi-year deal will see the Obamas producing movies and TV shows for the service. Former President Obama had this to say about the new production deal....

When Pam & Tommy was released on Hulu, Pamela Anderson wasn’t among those watching, unhappy to see her trauma serving as material for others to make money from even after all these years. Specifically, the Hulu series focuses on the theft and release of intimate videos made by Anderson and then-husband, Tommy Lee. Lily James plays Anderson in the limited series alongside Sebastian Stan as the Mötley Crüe drummer. In a new interview with the New York Times, Anderson commented on how James sent her a handwritten letter about her Pam & Tommy involvement when she got the role....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Viacom’s Paramount Pictures announced Sunday that it has agreed to buy DreamWorks SKG, the independent film and TV studio founded 11 years ago by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, in a deal worth $1.6 billion in cash and debt. In order to limit its cash outlay, though, Paramount, while retaining distribution fees, plans immediately to sell the existing DreamWorks library of 59 films to other investors....

The NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation recently wrapped production on Season 4 over the weekend, shooting two different versions of the Season 4 finale. The main storyline running throughout Season 4 has Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knoppe running for Pawnee City Council. Executive producer Michael Schur revealed at PaleyFest last night that they shot one version where Leslie wins, and another version where Leslie loses the election. Michael Schur wouldn’t reveal which version will air, but added that the decision to shoot both versions was, “in case we change our minds,” and to throw outsiders, “off the scent....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Inspector Clouseau bumbled his way to the top of the boxoffice as Steve Martin’s The Pink Panther debuted with an estimated $21.7 million to lead a rush of new releases. New Line’s horror sequel Final Destination 3 ran a close second with about $20.1 million, followed by Universal’s animated Curious George at No. 3 with approximately $15.3 million and the Warner Bros. thriller Firewall starring Harrison Ford in fourth with roughly $13....

HBO Max has unveiled the official trailer for Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. The new series, which reboots Pretty Little Liars with an all-new cast while keeping the story set in the same universe, picks up two decades after the events of the original show. USA Network, the #1 network in all of basic cable, is giving Psych-Os what they want: more Psych episodes! Due to the extraordinary popularity of the show, the network has ordered two additional episodes for Season 8, and, for the first time ever, fans will have the opportunity to vote for one they want to see appear on-air. The results will be announced when Psych makes its fifth annual return to San Diego’s Comic Con on July 18....

Emmy-winning actor Hank Azaria and acclaimed actress Sherilyn Fenn will guest star in the second season of the hit Showtime drama series Ray Donovan in multi-episode arcs. Azaria will play a major role this season as James Cochran, the ambitious head honcho of the Los Angeles FBI who becomes a thorn in Ray’s (Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Liev Schreiber) side. In a recurring role, Fenn will play his frumpy wife, Holly Cochran....

The Reno Sheriff’s Department isn’t done just yet. Quibi and Comedy Central Productions have announced that Reno 911! is set to return for an additional season. The short-form streaming service revived the long-dormant comedy earlier this year with a new season, its seventh overall. Since it proved to be one of the bigger hits for the service so far, they have opted to bring back Dangle and the gang for at least one more round of shenanigans....

The Good A commentary track and the featurettes help illuminate this master filmmaker. The Bad This is a collection of Altman’s films? I hate to say it but I really found the Robert Altman Collection to be a letdown. In a set that includes his seminal, anti-war themed M.A.S.H., I found the rest of the films Quintet, A Wedding and A Perfect Couple, to not really belong in this collection. Now, had they included Nashville, Short Cuts and The Player, that would have been a collection....

Guy Pearce takes a break from high drama and brings a little fun back to space in Lockout. Written and produced by Luc Besson, Lockout’s plot is a basic retread of John Carpenter’s Escape from New York. Instead of Kurt Russell’s Snake Plissken, we get Pearce as the equally smarmy and offensive Snow. Pearce revels in this role as the ass-kicking, foul-mouthed agent. He actually wears a t-shirt that says “Warning: Offensive” during the entire film....

While we’d all love to see our favorite actors in every movie or TV show we watch, it’s not physically possible. Sometimes it’s a difference in genre, and you’re watching something that wouldn’t seem normal for them, or they didn’t get the role for one reason or another. Even Keanu Reeves, a very popular actor, has turned down or not gotten several roles. While it might seem more common for actors to lose roles when they’re first starting out, audition processes can always mean one famous actor loses a role to another....
