The Warner Bros. Discovery merger has claimed many victims with various movies and shows getting axed, all in the interest of cutting costs and embracing a new creative strategy. One new direction that will be taken with HBO Max is cutting back on programming aimed at families and children. After Gordita Chronicles was axed after one season as a result of this change, it was soon after reported that Little Ellen had been canceled as well after two seasons on the streaming platform....

So can you just talk a little bit about how this story came to you and how you became involved in doing this documentary? Louie Psihoyos: Yeah. One of my best buddies is Jim Clark, the guy who started Silicon Graphics in the 80s. He’s a billionaire (Laughs). The roles keep on coming for Mel Gibson as the actor has now boarded the upcoming fantasy adventure movie Boys of Summer to star in a lead role. Rising actor Mason Thames (The Black Phone) is also set to star alongside Gibson in the feature, which hails from Nickel City Pictures, Novo Media Group, and Pastime Pictures. Written by Cornelius Uliano and Bryan Schulz (The Peanuts Movie), this new flick Boys of Summer will be directed by David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place)....

More than 1 million people have already fled Ukraine in a rapid exodus more than a week after Russia invaded and bombarded key cities across the country. Actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have pledged to match up to $3 million in aid to displaced Ukrainians. The couple made their announcement in a video posted on Kutcher’s Instagram account on Thursday. Milena Markovna Kunis, at the age of seven, fled from Soviet Ukraine with her family to the United States....

Miramax Films has acquired the North American rights to the Hart Sharp Entertainment and IFC Films co-production, Night Listener, it was announced today from the Sundance Film Festival by company president Daniel Battsek. Directed and co-written by Patrick Stettner (The Business of Strangers), Night Listener, tackles the narrative of Armistead Maupin’s most haunting page-turner, in which popular public radio storyteller Gabriel Noone (Robin Williams) develops an intense phone relationship with a young listener named Pete (Rory Culkin) and the social worker who rescued him from a life of abuse (Toni Collette)....

Anime collectors have a new staple to look forward to. GKIDS has officially announced they will be releasing a newly restored edition of the classic 90’s anime NADIA: The Secret of Blue Water. NBC has unveiled the full lineup of new shows headed to the network for the 2013-2014 season. The list includes six new comedies, eight new dramas and three new alternative shows. The comedies include Jon Favreau’s About a Boy, Jason Bateman’s The Family Guide, The Michael J. Fox Show, James Burrows’ Sean Saves The World, Adam Sztykiel’s Undateable and Mike Sikowitz’s Welcome to the Family. Dramas will include Believe, The Blacklist, Chicago P....

NBC is close to securing three new comedies for next year’s line-up: I’m With Stupid, The IT Crowd and Kath & Kim. Stupid is from The Ferrelly Brothers’ Reveille and BBC Worldwide Productions, and written by Wil Calhoun. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s based on the BBC 3 comedy about a down-and-out guy who befriends a wheelchair-bound young man and winds up moving into his group home for the disabled....

The recently canceled Aussie soap opera Neighbours is heading back to our screens! It was only a matter of months ago that soap fans the world over were waving a teary goodbye to the Australian hit series. After makers Fremantle Australia found themselves unable to secure funding following the withdrawal of support by British broadcast company Channel 5 (who had underwritten most of the show’s costs since 2008), the long-running show had seemingly breathed its last....

Nicole Holofcener has signed to write and direct a movie about a group of New York women who live in the same apartment building, with Catherine Keener in final negotiations to play the main character. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the script was completed ahead of the writers strike, with the project set to go into production in first-quarter 2008 to beat a potential actors strike. The movie, still-untitled, will center on a set of neighbors in the New York building, including a woman (Keener) who lives next door to a cantankerous elderly woman....

Nikki Blonsky talks about winning the role of a lifetime Hairspray is based on the 1988 John Waters comedy about star-struck teenagers who take part in a local Baltimore dance show. The new version of the film is also partially based on the hit Broadway adaptation of Hairspray, which debuted in 2002, and went on to win eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book and Best Director. John Travolta stars as Edna Turnblad and Nikki Blonsky is playing his on-screen daughter Tracy Turnblad, taking over a role originated by Ricky Lake....

Percy Jackson creator Rick Riordan has hinted that a second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians could be on the way to Disney+. While the first season of the Percy Jackson book series adaptation has yet to hit the streaming service, the fanfare surrounding the project might have encouraged Disney executives to begin production on season 2 of the Greek mythology-inspired series. The show’s first season promises to follow Percy as he and his demigod companions, Annabeth and Grover, journey from Camp Half-Blood across the United States to retrieve Zeus’ stolen lightning bolt....
