Neil Patrick Harris has booked a starring role in the indie farce The Best and the Brightest and a supporting role in CBS Films’ Beastly, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Co-written and directed by Josh Shelov, The Best and the Brightest revolves around a couple from Delaware who move to New York’s Upper East Side and enter the world of the city’s private kindergartens. Harris is playing the husband, who is not worried about his social status....

While eager fans anticipate the release of Watchmen on DVD, Watchmen Special Edition Director’s Cut DVD and Blu-ray, it seems an even bigger set will come out at the end of the year. The HD Room received an early copy of Watchmen on DVD and are reporting that there’s a small flier inside promoting a new Ultimate Collector’s Edition that will be released in December. The flier reveals that this will be a whopping five-disc set and that the set will include a whole new film that will not only consist of the Director’s Cut, but will also implement the short animated film Tales of the Black Freighter into the film....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nim’s Island topped the DVD sales and rental charts for the week ending August 10. Nim’s Island bested last week’s top seller, Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay by a three-to-one margin. There wasn’t much competition from other newcomers, with just one other major release in the straight-to-DVD Starship Troopers 3: Marauder, which finished fifth in sales and 12th in rentals....
Filmmaker David Leitch, who is best known for his high-octane action films like John Wick, Atomic Blonde, and Deadpool 2, took on a producer role in 2021’s acclaimed action thriller Nobody. The film stars Bob Odenkirk in the lead role as a family man with a violent past who resorts to his old ways after a failed robbery big against him. Owen Wilson and Paul Rudd are in negotiations to star opposite Reese Witherspoon in James L. Brooks’ yet to be titled romantic comedy for Columbia Pictures. According to Variety, Brooks wrote the screenplay, and is directing and producing. The story involves a love triangle with Rudd set to play a white-collar executive vying for Witherspoon’s affections, while Wilson would portray a professional baseball pitcher who is also a love interest....
