Westworld star Luke Hemsworth lands the titular role of the action film Gunner. Deadline reports that the eldest of the Hemsworth brothers will be leading the cast ensemble of writer and director Dimitri Logothetis’ Gunner. At the moment, Luke Hemsworth is the only cast member confirmed for the said project. Dimitri Logothetis, who’s widely known for his works for Jiu Jitsu, and Kickboxer: Retaliation, will be directing the new action film....
A hit CW Network series is about to get a dose of justice from a beloved genre actor. According to IGN TV, Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1) will appear in an episode of Smallville, which will feature the Justice Society. It was said that three of the Justice Society members would appear in this episode, and the site confirmed that Shanks was to play Hawkman. They also confirmed Doctor Fate would be the second Justice Society member appearing, to be played by Brett Stait (Andromeda)....
Director and executive producer Mohamed Diab has revealed that, should a second season of Moon Knight get the green light, it will center on that post-credit scene character. SPOILERS for the final moments of Moon Knight to follow. Speaking with Den of Geek, Diab revealed that they did wonder about bringing Jake Lockley, Marc Spector’s much more violent third personality, into the mix earlier. While this of course didn’t happen, Diab hopes that a second season would give audiences a lot more time with the mysterious character....

Progress appears to be moving forward on the upcoming Nic Cage sequels. On Tuesday, a new report published at THR noted that Nicolas Cage has been in very high demand for action movie roles since appearing in the acclaimed drama Pig. The report notes that in addition to this career renaissance landing him movies like the upcoming horror-comedy Renfield, Cage is also “in various stages of discussions” to return for sequels to some of his other hit films from years past....

Christopher Nolan is returning to the big screen with his next epic feature film, Oppenheimer. The movie will follow Cillian Murphy’s character, J. Robert Oppenheimer, known as the father of the atomic bomb. Though a short teaser trailer has been released in the past, the full-length look at the upcoming movie was recently released courtesy of Universal Pictures. In the two-minute-long trailer, we see the internal struggle of the titular character....

Since she doesn’t believe in it she sets about making a documentary film to explore it. All of this makes for a fairly interesting film as we get vignettes about how a bunch of couples got together, shown to us via paper puppets....
PlayStation has dealt the future of Blu-ray an interesting and costly blow. In a story from Variety, Sony used the E3 video game conference to unveil the price of the new PlayStation 3 console. Apparently, it “will cost $599 for a complete version, with a discounted version at $499.” Since the PS3 will come with a Blu-ray player as part of the console, the inclusion of that machinery is what spiked costs....
Sublime (working title), the second release in the “Raw Feed” series of original direct-to-DVD films, about a routine surgery gone terribly wrong, began principal photography last week in the Los Angeles area. Produced by Raw Feed Productions in conjunction with Warner Bros., Sublime is slated for release in 2007 and will be distributed by Warner Home Video. Sublime is directed and produced by Tony Krantz, executive producer of “24,” from a screenplay by Co-Producer Erik Jendresen (HBO’s “Band of Brothers” and the upcoming films The Hot Zone, Aloft)....
We reported way back in December 2008 that Overture Films was setting up a comedy film featuring sketches directed by multiple directors, in the vein of Kentucky Fried Movie. Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese is teaming up with Vikings creator Michael Hirst for a new series entitled The Caesars, which will start filming in Italy sometime next year. The series will follow the early rulers of Rome, starting with the epic rise of Julius Caesar to power. The pilot script has already been written, along with an outline that maps out the entire first season. Here’s what Michael Hirst had to say about Martin Scorsese’s commitment to the project, adding that the filmmaker has been “desperate” to make a movie or TV series about the Romans....
Marvel Entertainment, Inc. announced that it has satisfied all funding requirements under the Company’s previously announced $525 million non-recourse credit facility and has begun borrowing from the facility to finance its first self-produced and financed feature film, Iron Man. Additionally, Marvel has finalized distribution deals for Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk in the international territories for which it controls distribution rights. Paramount Pictures will distribute Iron Man and Universal Pictures will distribute The Incredible Hulk in North America and all other international territories....
