Martin Sheen recently opened up about his role as Uncle Ben in director Marc Webb’s upcoming reboot The Amazing Spider-Man. What he said won’t come as a surprise to anyone familiar with Peter Parker’s background. Sheen says that he doesn’t have any scenes with Andrew Garfield in costume, and that he won’t interact with Spider-Man at all. Not really a spoiler, because we all know he dies before the legend of Spider-Man is even born into existence....

All right, all right all right; Matthew McConaughey might indeed return to one of his earlier films for a sequel. MTV Movies Blog caught up with McConaughey, who revealed he’s been talking with Dazed and Confused director Richard Linklater to return for a sequel to the 1993 film. McConaughey also added that he’d like to see the cast of the original return for the sequel as well. “That’s a very precious subject, that movie,” says with a smile, “We made such a gem… I’ve had loose discussions about what would be the next [in]carnation of a Dazed and Confused… [Linklater is] not going to do it unless it’s done the right way....

Michael Goldbach is a writer-director that more people will surely start to take notice of in the very near future. Overture Films and Paramount Vantage have announced that Oscar-winner Michael Moore’s new documentary feature will be released domestically on October 2, 2009. The as-yet-untitled film will explore the root causes of the global economic meltdown and take a comical look at the corporate and political shenanigans that culminated in what Moore has described as “the biggest robbery in the history of this country” - the massive transfer of U.S. taxpayer money to private financial institutions....

Abigail Breslin, Luke Wilson, Andy Garcia, and Donald Sutherland have all signed on to star in Miranda’s Victim, a courtroom drama from director Michelle Danner. The film, written by J. Craig Stiles and George Kolber, will tell the true story of Trish Weir (Breslin), who was kidnaped and sexually assaulted by Ernesto Miranda in 1963. While committed to putting her aggressor in prison, Trish’s life gets destroyed by the American legal system, triggering a law that transforms the nation....

DreamWorks Animation is up in the air about a sequel for Monsters Vs. Aliens, according to CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, who told The Hollywood Reporter that domestic audiences took to the animated feature more so than international audiences. “This is the first movie we’ve had that’s right on the bubble,” Katzenberg said. Katzenberg said executives will make discussions of a possible Monsters Vs. Aliens sequel part of their annual worldwide marketing tour....

According to Home Media Retailing, The DVD Release Report has figures that show music DVDs " jumped 17.8% from 2004, compared to the far more modest 4% to 5% gain in overall DVD releases." “I think the consumer is pretty intrigued with music DVD and getting more intrigued,” VP of video for Rhino Entertainment Sig Sigworth said. “They’re hungry for ways to use their home theater systems, and music DVD is such a great way to showcase that....

The Netflix Original Series Hemlock Grove, a riveting and eerie mystery from executive producer Eli Roth and based on Brian McGreevy’s novel of the same name, will return with a second season next year.
