Randy Jackson announced today that he will not be returning for Season 14 of American Idol. Here’s what the veteran music producer had to say in a statement to Deadline about leaving the series. Randy Jackson was one of the original American Idol judges alongside Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul when the show first debuted in 2002. He stayed on as a judge for the first 12 seasons, before he announced in May 2013 that he would be leaving the show....

A mere 48 hours after The Golden Globes, Lisa Marie Presley suffered cardiac arrest and passed away shortly after. Presley attended the award show in support of Baz Luhrmann’s biopic about her father, Elvis. She had been attending red carpet events alongside the cast since the film’s release last year. The film was nominated for best picture at The Golden Globes, and it also won Austin Butler the Golden Globe for best actor....

Sophia Di Martino is preparing to join Tom Hiddleston in the upcoming Loki Disney+ series. It is not clear who she will be playing at this time. It is believed that production on the Marvel series will begin early next year, which means we should be getting some additional casting news very soon. Di Martino previously starred in the sleeper hit of the summer, Yesterday, which took place in a world where influential rock band The Beatles never existed....

There have been several ex-cast members of Lost that have been confirmed to return for this sixth and final season, and now we can add one more to that list. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed with Lost executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof that Maggie Grace, who played Shannon, will make a return to the series sometime later this season. “We’re really excited about having her back on the show,” says Cuse, “and we have a good story for her....

Lupita Nyong’o has exited the Apple TV+ series Lady in the Lake, Variety reports. Nyong’o was cast as Cleo Sherwood, the character referenced in the title, starring opposite co-lead Natalie Portman. It is unknown what prompted the actress’ departure. This marks the second time in two years that the Oscar-winning actress has exited a series. Back in 2020, she cited scheduling conflicts due to the pandemic when exiting the HBO Max adaptation of the Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie novel Americanah....

A lone cop on a mission of vengence shot down all the competition in home video this week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Max Payne debuted atop the national DVD sales, rental and Blu-ray sales charts, for the week ending January 25. The only competition Max Payne faced was from horror’s Jigsaw and his latest film, Saw V, which took second place in both DVD sales and rentals in its first week on the shelves....

Following the premiere of Pearl at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the third installment of the X horror franchise has officially been announced. A24 has greenlit MaXXXine, a sequel that follows the events of X with Mia Goth reprising one of her two roles in that film. Ti West returns to write and direct after doing the same with X and Pearl. A first look teaser for MaXXXine has also been unveiled, and you can take a look at that below, courtesy of A24 on YouTube....

Michael Cera (Superbad) has signed on to star in Youth in Revolt, Dimension Films’ adaptation of the best-selling C.D. Payne novel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No director is set yet. Payne’s self-published Youth in Revolt became an underground sensation and garnered a youthful cult following throughout the world, leading to a series of books featuring a teenager named Nick Twisp. The conceit of the novels is that Twisp strives to balance out his budding sexual urges while remaining an intellectual teenager in a world of moronic adults....

Michael Shannon is no stranger to on-set safety precautions—especially when it comes to guns. The Bullet Train star says on a movie set with well-trained professionals, safety is placed as the highest priority; if done well, the process is “very, very meticulous.” But when safety gets sloppy due to steep cost-cutting measures, tragedy can strike. That’s what Shannon says occurred in October 2021, when actor Alec Baldwin fatally shot and killed director Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust after being handed a gun that contained live rounds....

Mo’Nique is set to film a new comedy special for Netflix, four years after accusing the streamer of discrimination against Black women. Mo’Nique and Netflix were first going to collaborate in 2017, but the Academy Award-winning actor and comedian was left stunned after hearing Netflix’s offer of $500,000 for an exclusive hour-long stand-up special. Mo’Nique felt the sum was unfair to her, considering other comedians like Dave Chappelle, Ricky Gervais, and Amy Schumer were making millions of dollars....

Shudder’s Creepshow season 2 has just added Marilyn Manson, Ali Larter, C. Thomas Howell, and more to its cast. The hit series is currently filming in Atlanta with a 2021 release planned. The horror streaming service has not yet announced a concrete release date as season 2 was delayed earlier this year because of the public health crisis. Regardless, horror fans won’t have to wait too much longer for some new Creepshow material with the animated Halloween special debuting this week....

Spoiler Warning: Never Have I Ever Seasons 1-2 Mindy Kaling’s Never Have I Ever is returning with season 3 on August 12, 2022, bringing Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) back to Netflix soon. The Indian-American teen was continuing to work through the loss of her father, deciding which guy to be with, and trying to be a good friend to her best friends Eleanor (Ramona Young) and Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) when we last saw her....

HBO has released a new trailer for Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9, and unlike the first two trailers, this one actually showcases footage from the show. The first trailer just showed series creator/star Larry David being turned around on a rotating pedestal, while wearing a Julius Caesar costume, and the second showed Larry David refusing to answer the Bat-signal sign that calls to him in the middle of the night. This trailer finally gives us our first look at some of this season’s guest stars, including Bryan Cranston and Carrie Brownstein....

Many eyes have been on Johnny Depp since the insanely-televised conclusion of his legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard, namely where his acting career would look to regain its footing. While not much is on the docket just yet, Depp has since been confirmed to play the infamous French King Louis XV in the upcoming French film Jeanne du Barry, which has been officially renamed La Favorite and is now in post-production and set to release later this year....

For the first time in a very long time, NBC Sunday Night Football isn’t going to happen. The NFL has decided to cancel the final edition of Sunday Night Football for the 2017 season. This marks the first time the organization has canceled such a game since 2006. This time, there are several factors that weigh into the decision, but it no doubt has a lot to do with the fact that NFL football has taken a big hit in the ratings department this season....
