Universal Pictures, One Race Films and Radar Pictures announced today that principal photography has begun on the action-driven, sci-fi thriller Riddick. The shoot will take place in Montreal. The latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with 2000’s hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick reunites writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive) and star Vin Diesel (the Fast & Furious franchise, xXx). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy....

Dimension Films - the successful genre and specialty arm of The Weinstein Company - is pleased to announce that the company will make H2, the sequel to Rob Zombie’s 2007 reinvention of the horror classic Halloween. Once again, Rob Zombie has been tapped to write and direct. Malek Akkad of Trancas International Films, who also produced 2007’s Halloween with Dimension, will produce the sequel, along with Andy Gould of Spectacle Entertainment Group, Zombie’s long time manager and producing partner....

Details surrounding the second season of Loki are currently rather scarce, but one star has now confirmed their return. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Gugu Mbatha-Raw has revealed that, while she is obliged to keep everything else a secret, she can confirm that her TVA Hunter Ravonna Renslayer will be back for more when Loki Season 2 hits Disney+. A complex villain, Ravonna Renslayer goes on quite the journey during the first season of Loki, beginning as TVA Hunter A-23 before rising through the ranks to become a respected judge and overseeing the Loki variant investigation....

Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman adventure Man of Steel is currently gearing up for a 2012 release, which looks to be just in the knick of time, since ongoing legal action could fracture the franchise. DC Comics has been in court with the estates of Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, which may lead to a bizarre separation of rights to the character. This would all take effect in 2013, when the rights would likely revert back to the creators’ estates, which makes Man of Steel exempt from any legal action, along with its sequels....

It wouldn’t be summer without new shark horror movies to look forward. Thanks to Saban Films, the new film Maneater is coming to theaters, On Demand, and digital on Aug. 26, 2022. You can get a sneak peek at the shark horror flick by watching the official trailer below. Maneater is written and directed by Justin Lee. It stars Nicky Whelan, Trace Adkins, Jeff Fahey, and Shane West. The film is produced by Daemon Hillin via Hilline Entertainment....

It seems like its taken forever for a new version of Conan The Barbarian to hit theater screens. It looks like we’re finally one step closer to seeing that happen. According to Variety, Millennium Films has acquired the rights to Robert E. Howard’s mythical conqueror. Fredrik Malmberg, president and CEO of Paradox Entertainment, chose Millennium after winning the rights from Warner Brothers last spring. His aim is to get the film into production by next spring....

It’s looking like Star Trek will soon enough go animated once again. According to a new report, CBS Television Studios and Nickelodeon are in the process of negotiations to bring a new Star Trek animated series to the latter network. Aimed at children, the cartoon series would be much more lighthearted than Star Trek: Discovery and other live-action iterations of the popular franchise. Attached to the planned project are writers Kevin and Dan Hageman, whose previous work in TV animation includes Trollhunter and Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu....

Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the Image Comics series Nonplayer for producers Roy Lee and David Heyman. Nate Simpson created the comic book series, which went on sale in April, and centers around a young woman named Dana Stevens, who creates a digital fantasy world to escape her humdrum work day. Instead of being a lowly office worker, in her fantasy world named Jarvath, Dana Stevens is a fierce warrior....

Star Wars fans can now mark their calendars for the premiere of the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which Disney has revealed in a new poster will make its debut on May 25th. Last week, it was suggested that the series would be arriving sometime in May following a rapidly deleted tweet by Disney Streaming Enterprise Program Manager Brandon San Giovanni, which said, “Our very own Obi-Wan wi (sic) be saying “hello there,” on Disney+… May 2022....

Several new images from director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Oppenheimer have now been released, revealing our first look at the likes of Emily Blunt and Robert Downey Jr., both of whom will star alongside Cillian Murphy in the biopic. A newly released clip from the upcoming legacy sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife teases the nostalgic fun as Paul Rudd attempts to use a familiar-looking ghost trap. PBS announced today its slate of Winter/Spring 2014 programs, including the long-awaited return of Masterpiece Sherlock Season 3 starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the legendary British sleuth, on Sunday, January 19 at 10 p.m. ET. The highly acclaimed Sherlock follows Season 4 of Downton Abbey, which debuts with eight new episodes January 5 on Masterpiece. The two shows bolster Sunday night as a hallmark of British drama on PBS, whose ratings that night have grown 26 percent (8-11 pm, 2011-12 season: 9/19/2011-9/23/2012 to 2012-13 season: 9/24/2012-9/22/2013) season over season....
