Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios have both made the joint announcement that Marc Webb will indeed direct the next film in the franchise. Here is the press release below. Marc Webb, the director of the Golden Globe-nominated Best Picture (500) Days of Summer, will direct the next chapter in the Spider-Man franchise, set to hit theaters summer 2012, it was jointly announced today by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios. Written by James Vanderbilt, Webb will work closely with producers Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin in developing the project, which will begin production later this year....

Anthony Edwards and Mark Ruffalo are teaming up for a new drama series on Showtime. According to Deadline, the network is also working with producers Jeff Daniels and Timothy Busfield on a project entitled Happily Ever After, which will star Daniels in the lead. Anthony Edwards and Mark Ruffalo will serve as co-creators and executive produce a weekly look at two partners who run a media crisis management firm. The hope is that both actors will headline the show....

Media Blasters, Manga and Geneon Entertainment have some big anime plans. In a story from The Digital Bits, Media Blasters is currently working on Voltron: Collection One - Blue Lion. This “will be a 3-disc set containing the first 15 episodes of the series, along with the original pilot “The Voltron Trilogy”, staff interviews, a featurette on the making of the DVDs, new 5.1 surround mixes, and a booklet insert featuring episode synopses and original air dates....

In an article from Variety about the revival of MGM studios, the publication mentions some of the higher-profile feature films that is in the works: Over the next few years, MGM is planning to release half a dozen films, some in the $150 million to $200 million-plus range. Studio is ready to unveil such high-profile projects as Terminator 4; one or two installments of The Hobbit, which Sloan hopes will be directed by Peter Jackson; and a sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan....

Disney+ has revealed the first look at their upcoming Monsters, Inc. spin-off series. The new show is titled Monsters at Work and we have been introduced to a new character named Tylor Tuskmon, who is voiced by Ben Feldman. It was reported earlier this year that John Goodman and Billy Crystal are coming back to reprise their roles as Sulley and Mike, respectively. Clay Adler, a young actor who got his start on the MTV reality TV series entitled Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County, passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The reality star and actor was just 27 years old at the time of his death, which happened during a desert trip with his friends. After news of his suicide spread earlier today, MTV released the following brief statement....

Rumors have been circulating that The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, the sequel to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe will no longer be filmed in New Zealand (where the first movie was shot), and instead will be filmed in Britain. On December 9, the UK based The Times reports: New Zealand’s NewsRoom.co.nz reports on December 11th that: Prince Caspian, the next film in the Narnia series, is set to be made at Britain’s Pinewood Studios....

The story of Night of the Living Dead will be told in an upcoming scripted film about the making of the movie. Per Deadline, it was announced that a new making-of film about the classic zombie movie from 1968 is in development from Greg Nicotero’s Monster Agency Productions and Jimmy Miller’s Mosaic. Nicotero is someone who has become a major figure in zombie horror in his own right after directing nearly 40 episodes of The Walking Dead and serving as an EP on the hit AMC series....

Actor Ryan Gosling is set to reunite with his Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn on a new drama entitled Only God Forgives. The story centers on Julian, a career criminal who runs a drug smuggling operation out of a Bangkok boxing gym. Despite being well respected by his criminal peers, Julian feels a void deep inside him. After he meets a retired cop dubbed The Angel of Death, the criminal realizes he must confront his mother....

In the past, Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland revealed that he auditioned unsuccessfully for a role in the hit crime series Peaky Blinders. Well, with Holland now a big box office draw, the creator behind the hit show, Steven Knight, has invited the actor to star in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie. While attending the recent premiere of Peaky Blinders Season 6, Knight addressed Holland’s failed attempt to star in the series (via Metro) and seemed eager to have Tom Holland join the gang for the movie....

If Disney remakes have proved to be the norm for Hollywood culture, it isn’t that far-fetched to find a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic Psycho. Gus Van Sant helmed the 1998 remake, which starred Vince Vaughn, Julianne Moore, Viggo Mortenson, Anne Heche, and William H. Macy. Van Sant has claimed that the remake was made as an experiment. It basically followed the exact same notes and beats of the 1960 original, except it was in color, it intercut nightmare sequences during killing scenes, and Vaughn’s Norman Bates was a bit more sexually explicit....

Rachel McAdams has signed on to star in the drama, The Return for Lionsgate; Michael Pena and Tim Robbins have also joined the cast. The bittersweet film will be directed and co-written by Neil Burger (The Illusionist); the story revolves around three soldiers - Collee (McAdams), T.K. (Pena) and Cheever (Robins); The Hollywood Reporter adds they return from the Iraq War after suffering injuries and learn that life has moved on without them....
