As Disney acquires the rights to Iron Man 3 and The Avengers, it has become apparent that Marvel Studios is slowing down with its intentions to bring the teenage superhero franchise Runaways to the big screen. That doesn’t mean we won’t see it in the future. We just won’t see it anytime soon. Some speculated the film was being cancelled altogether, as sources report that Marvel was uneasy moving ahead with their project after Kick-Ass, which contains similar themes, faltered at the box office....

October is going to give us The Robinsons! In a story from The Digital Bits, Buena Vista Home Entertainment has picked October 23 to bring out Meet the Robinsons. This release will be on Standard DVD and Blu-ray disc. Synopsis: Based on William Joyce’s book A Day with Wilbur Robinson, this comedic-adventure follows Lewis, a brilliant twelve-year-old with a surprising number of clever inventions to his credit. His latest and most ambitious project is the Memory Scanner, which he hopes will retrieve early memories of his mother and maybe even reveal why she put him up for adoption....

We just might see Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat 2 if the sequel ever gets made, and BossLogic’s latest artwork has cast Dwayne Johnson. Recently, The Rock told Men’s Journal that he’s working on developing a movie adaptation for an undisclosed video game. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon responded to the news by noting that Johnson would “make a great Shao Kahn,” inspiring BossLogic to get to work. The result is some interesting fan art imagining The Rock as the Mortal Kombat 2 boss....

My Name is Earl premiered on NBC in 2005 and featured Jason lee as the titular character, who gets hit by a car shortly after discovering his lottery ticket has won him $100,000 (and essentially loses the ticket). While in the hospital, watching Carson Daly, Earl learns about karma and realizes that he needs to turn his life around by doing good deeds. As a result, he makes a list of all the bad things he’s done and the people that he’s wronged, and vows to correct his mistakes....

NBC announced that the mid-season drama Raines will debut on Thursday, March 15 (10-11 p.m. ET) followed by a second episode on March 22 before the series settles in its regular day and time on Friday, March 30 (9-10 p.m. ET). The announcement was made by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment. “We have been eagerly anticipating the premiere of this attractive and quirky new drama since we announced it last May at Upfront,” said Reilly....

If he can make his schedule work, it looks like Neil Patrick Harris will be joining American Horror Story for its Season 4 return, titled American Horror Story: Freak Show. Having wrapped his role as Barney on the extremely popular CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother after 9 seasons, the multi-talent actor and singer sent creator Ryan Murphy a letter asking if he could come aboard the hit horror anthology, and Murphy tweeted back that they do have a role for him if he’s ready and able....

Netflix, Inc. and Relativity Media, LLC today announced a long term agreement through which major theatrically released films owned by Relativity will be licensed directly and exclusively to Netflix for streaming to its subscribers during the “pay TV window.” Traditionally, these films have flowed through Relativity’s studio releasing partners to output deals with premium TV channels. Fans of Beastars have a reason to howl. The official Twitter account for the Netflix anime hit announced that the third and final season is officially in production. The tweet, which can be viewed below, also announced that the new season is set to premiere in 2024! Based on the hit manga by Paru Itagaki, Beastars takes place in a world of anthropomorphic animals. Neve Campbell may not be returning to the Scream franchise for Scream 6, but the actress has appeared in a new America Red Cross advertisement that parodies a number of horror movies including the classic Wes Craven slasher franchise. The new ad turns the horror genre on its head by showing the “waste” of so much blood thanks to summer camp kids following eerie sounds and such when it could be put to good use if donated instead....

Disney+’s Loki left several questions unanswered about TVA’s place in the MCU and the conception of the multiverse in the continuity. Darth Vader might have been played by two people in the original trilogy, but Hayden Christensen will solely play Darth Vader for his role in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sony Pictures Animation has set screenwriters Jay Scherick & David Ronn to write the screenplay for an all-new Popeye animated feature, based on the iconic characters of comic strip and cartoon fame. Popeye is the second project for Scherick & Ronn with Sony Pictures Animation following their success with this summer’s blockbuster The Smurfs, which has grossed more than $550 million worldwide since its July 29 opening. Jason David Frank’s Tommy Oliver was the face of the Power Rangers franchise. After making his debut in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Frank continued playing the character all the way into 2019. In-universe, Tommy Oliver was considered the greatest Power Ranger of all time. And in real-life, Frank was regarded as both a martial arts expert and pop culture legend.
