Minions: Rise of Gru is one of the last movies waiting for release since before the Covid pandemic. Having waited patiently for two years, the long wait for the Despicable Me prequel and follow-up to 2015’s Minions is about to pay off with the movie projected to pull in over $70 million on its domestic release this weekend. With Disney Pixar’s Lightyear having crashed to Earth with a less than stellar performance at the box office, Minions: Rise of Gru could capitalize on that disappointment....

Actress Molly Ringwald will make her first television appearance in four years as a guest-star on NBC’s supernatural drama Medium episode “The Darkness is Light Enough” (Monday, May 1st at 10 PM ET/PT). “I’ve been a fan of both Glenn’s and Patricia’s work for a long time,” said Ringwald. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them as well as the entire cast of Medium.” “I can’t tell you how excited we are to have Molly Ringwald join us for this episode,” said the show’s creator and executive producer, Glenn Gordon Caron....

Mortal Kombat 2 writer Jeremy Slater has promised that the sequel to last year’s martial arts epic will be bigger, better, and bloodier. All the things you could possibly want in a Mortal Kombat follow-up. Mortal Kombat 2 has now been officially given the green light, with Slater taking to social media to declare his excitement over joining the team and bringing the hugely popular video game to live-action once again....

New Line is set to develop MacGyver, the science-like adventure TV series from the 1980’s, into a feature film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Raffaella De Laurentiis, daughter of Dino De Laurentiis, is producing through her Raffaella Prods. along with Martha De Laurentiis and series creator Lee Zlotoff. MacGyver ran from 1985-92 on ABC and starred Richard Dean Anderson, later of Stargate: Atlantis and Stargate SG-1 fame, as an incredibly resourceful secret agent for the Phoenix Foundation who frequently would escape from dangerous situations with ingenious and lightning-quick engineering trickery....

Action star Chris Hemsworth looks ready to dole out some damage in a new image from the upcoming Netflix sequel, Extraction 2. Revealed by EW, Extraction 2 director Sam Hargrave has promised that the action movie follow-up will be “bigger, badder, more deadly, and more dangerous” than its already pretty big, bad, deadly, and dangerous predecessor. While all attention has been on the cancelation of DC shows at The CW, it shouldn’t be forgotten that there are still several new shows coming to the network, one of which is Gotham Knights. Now, with The CW CEO’s promise that superhero shows are not completely leaving the network, a first look image and new synopsis of the brand new series have been released. While one Batman-related series is ending with the cancelation of Batwoman, Gotham Knights is coming in the new season to take its place and it looks like it means business....

SciFi Wire has just posted an interview with Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins producer James Middleton. In it, he unveils some of the secrets behind the film. Middleton states, “It’s post-apocalyptic. It’s set after the events of [Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines], where we see the nuclear exchange at the end of the movie, and we show what the world is like after this event, and we show how people try to deal in a post-apocalyptic world....

Comedian/actor Patrice O’Neal passed away on Monday night at the age of 41, due to complications that arose after a stroke he suffered last month. Gregg Hughes, a.k.a. Opie of the Opie & Anthony radio show, confirmed the news on his Twitter account earlier today. We finally know when Psych 2: Lassie Come Home will debut. Dipping his toes into a blockbuster movie franchise was never outside the realm of possibility for famed director Quentin Tarantino. At one point, he was working on an R-rated Star Trek movie, though those plans never wound up coming to fruition. But when it comes to superhero movies, specifically those set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe, the Pulp Fiction helmer does not have any interest, given that his creative freedom would be severely impacted as a “hired hand” of the studio....

In a story from The Digital Bits, it appears like Lionsgate is throwing in all the bells and whistles for this December 26 release. First of all the movie is going to be offered in “Unrated anamorphic widescreen, Unrated full frame and R-rated full frame editions for $28.98 a piece.” Then the disc will also be offered in “a Blu-ray Disc edition that includes both versions of the film in 1080p widescreen for $39....
