The Price Is Right is on hiatus following the murder of host Drew Carey’s ex-fiancee Amie Harwick. Over the weekend, Harwick was allegedly killed by an ex-boyfriend who assaulted her in the home, leading her to fall to her death from a third-story balcony. When police arrived on the scene responding to reports of a woman screaming, they were greeted by Harwick’s roommate, who told officers she was being attacked inside....
NBC has caught a whiff of the dancing fever. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has picked up an untitled competitive dancing program. Lord of the Dance’s Michael Flatley will host the new reality dance competition series. The series will be an international affair with competitors from eight different countries displaying their nation’s dancing styles. Each country will present two dance soloists, a duet and a group to be judged upon....

Orlando Bloom has pulled out of Lone Scherfig’s An Education because of scheduling clashes just as the movie began rolling, the producers said Monday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bloom was replaced by Dominic Cooper (The History Boys) in the movie penned by oft-adapted British novelist Nick Hornby. Producers have moved quickly to replace Bloom on the film, which began shooting Monday and will be in front of the cameras until May on location in and around London, Oxford and Paris....

Two New Year’s Day releases, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Resident Evil: Extinction and Lionsgate’s War, topped the national DVD sales and rental charts, respectively, for the week ending Jan. 6. Resident Evil: Extinction came out on top on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, riding on its $50.7 million theatrical record. We told you earlier that there seemed to be some conflict between Marvel Studios and Iron Man director Jon Favreau over whether or not the director would be returning to helm Iron Man 2. Well, according to Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood Daily, those rumors are just that - rumors, and an offer has been put on the table to Favreau by Marvel. According to her sources, the offer is definitely for a higher fee than that which Favreau took for Iron Man....
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wraps up the first half of Season 1 with “The Bridge”, airing Tuesday, December 10 at 8 PM ET on ABC. The network has released the first promo for the midseason finale, which features J. August Richards as Mike Peterson from the “Pilot” episode, who returns as a new S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. We reported back in February that McG had signed on to direct This Means War, his next project for 20th Century Fox. Now it seems he might have a follow-up waiting in the wings after he finishes work on that film. Pajiba is reporting that McG could come on board to helm R.I.P.D.
