Next week, Marvel Studios will return with a fresh origin story, this time of its mystical vigilante from the comics, Marc Spector/Moon Knight. The show will directly tie in with the rest of the Marvel Studios films and Disney+ originals, further expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Oscar Issac, who plays the eponymous role in the series, would join Hailee Steinfield’s Kate Bishop, Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau, and later Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan; among the central characters that Marvel brought forth into the franchise via small screen format....

Empire Online recently spoke with producer Wes Craven about the upcoming remake of his very own The Hills Have Eyes. Apparently the film is so intense and gory that the American ratings board, the MPAA, have given it the dreaded NC-17, which is equivalent to commercial suicide. “It’s a very strong picture and we’re trying to figure out what to do with that, without ruining it,” says a perplexed Craven, speaking to Empire yesterday....

Co-written by Stephen King and son Owen, the novel Sleeping Beauties could be heading to the small screen as AMC has ordered a pilot script. Owen King will be writing the script for the pilot, with the open-ended goal of the story being adapted as a TV series for the network. The Dark Knight producer Charles Roven and Richard Suckle are teaming up for Damascus Gate, a Columbia Pictures political thriller involving a journalist and a group of extremists in modern-day Jerusalem. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Roven will produce via his Atlas Entertainment banner; Eric Warren Singer will pen the screenplay and exec produce. Based on Robert Stone’s 1998 novel, which Sony has acquired, Damascus Gate is set in a world in which a groundbreaking accord between Palestinians and Israelis is nearly complete when a burned-out journalist comes upon an extremist plot to sabotage the effort....

An eighth installment in the long-running horror franchise Paranormal Activity is reportedly eyeing a 2023 release. During a recent interview with producer Jason Blum, Variety revealed that Paranormal Activity 8 is looking to frighten audiences sometime next year, though there is no word as yet whether these jump scares will occur on the big or small screen. According to Variety, EBay founder Jeff Skoll’s Participant Prods. is fully financing and producing docu, The World According to Sesame Street, from co-directors Linda Goldstein Knowlton and Linda Hawkins Costigan. Film, which will compete at Sundance and shop for a distrib, is about the complexities and challenges Sesame Workshop faces in producing international versions of the world’s most watched television program. Docu was filmed in Bangladesh, Kosovo and South Africa, where “Sesame Street” producers have tailored the program to local auds, introducing, for instance, an HIV-positive puppet in AIDS-ravaged South Africa....

It has now been a few years since a fan video reimagining The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as a drama rather than the sitcom we known and loved it for being, arrived online and somehow led to a bidding war between networks and streamers to actually make the series a reality. Will Smith was attached to the reboot project and it ended up with NBC’s Peacock nabbing themselves the property with a two season order without even bothering with a pilot....

Peter Berg recently chatted with SCI FI Wire about a potential sequel to his hit blockbuster Hancock, which starred Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Jason Bateman. The director would gladly make a second film if the studio called for one, and he definitely has some ideas on where it should go story wise. At the end of the first film, Will Smith’s superhero character was revealed to be an immortal god who becomes vulnerable in the presence of his goddess companion (Charlize Theron)....

Platinum Studios and Vanguard Animation have formed Vanguard Comics, an imprint designed to develop properties that can simultaneously be launched as comicbooks or graphic novels as well as feature films, according to Variety. Platinum Studios CEO-chairman Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and Vanguard Animation chairman John H. Williams, producer of the Shrek series, are launching the imprint. They’ve already acquired a first property, Illegal Aliens, about a skeptical tabloid reporter sent to a Texas border town to investigate cattle mutilations....

Shortly after the announcement that a new Swamp Thing movie is in the works at DC Studios, it’s been revealed that James Mangold might direct. THR reports that the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny helmer is now in talks to direct Swamp Thing for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU. The news follows Mangold seemingly teasing his potential involvement with the project by posting an image of Swamp Thing artwork on Twitter shortly after the DCU announcements were made....
