Paint got its start on the 2010 Black List for the most-liked unproduced screenplay. There, it was ranked alongside screenplays for Jackie, Argo, Snow White and The Huntsman, Gangster Squad, The Butler, What Happened To Monday?, what would go on to be HBO’s Succession, and more. The Black List is created by around three hundred high-ranking film executives, studio assistants, and in-the-loop studio representatives. They compile a list of unproduced screenplays uniquely associated with that year of publication (written in that year, based on a novel in that year, etc....

Following 2-weeks of nationwide midnight only sellouts and fan frenzy over the limited release hit thriller Paranormal Activity, moviegoers everywhere have been heard! Over 1,000,000 people from around the country demanded the film play in their city by logging on to ParanormalMovie.com. Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc., a vertically integrated film, television and home entertainment company, has acquired two new feature films, The Mad and Bottom Feeder for its Archetype Films division, continuing the Company’s strategic expansion of its feature film production and acquisition slate. Both films will be produced for the Company’s Archetype Films division, under which Peace Arch anticipates delivering at least a dozen films annually for worldwide distribution. The Mad stars Billy Zane (Titanic) and Bottom Feeder stars Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan)....

Penelope Jones, a burgeoning Motown Records hip-hop star, will appear on FOX’s long-running crime-fighting show, America’s Most Wanted, in hopes of solving the murder of her brother, Tony Jones. Tony was fatally shot in October 2003 in front of his 6-year-old son in their Illinois apartment. Penelope, a St. Louis native, says: “Not only is he my brother, but I’m part of that community. I hope that my presence will help generate leads and make people who may know something about my brother’s murder come forward....

Revealer is a Shudder Original Movie directed by Luke Boyce It centers on Angie (Caito Aase), a stripper, and Sally (Shaina Schrooten), a religious protestor, who become trapped in a peep show booth during the apocalypse in 1980s Chicago. The film was written by Tim Seeley and Michael Moreci, comic book writers and lifelong horror fans, who talked to Dread Central about making the movie. Part of the writers thinking was taking a character like that and crafting an ’80s foil....

Rick and Morty’s latest episode, “Night Family,” lets viewers see a spookier side of the show. Although Rick and Morty is known for its Lovecraftian moments of existential dread, this week, they did a more traditional horror parody that looked like Rick and Morty portaled themselves into a John Carpenter movie. The inciting incident seemed somewhat similar to Severance, shaving sections of somnolent consciousness that created suitable second selves to sterilize saucers....

The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power has already gained enough intrigue to pretty much guarantee record numbers of viewers when the series premieres on Prime Video in September. While some are eager to see more stories from Middle-Earth, others just want to compare it to Peter Jackson’s epic movies, and there are those who just want to complain about how much of the narrative/character styles have been changed from what they expected to see....

Madonna discussed the status of her upcoming biopic in a recent interview with Variety. Madonna shared that she is still working on the script and “whittling away at it,” comparing the process of shortening her life story to hacking off limbs. Titled Little Sparrow, the biopic will tell the singer’s personal story from her perspective. The current script details Madonna’s meteoric rise to fame from her early performances to the Blond Ambition Tour in 1990, but that may evolve....

Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel have climbed on-board to write and direct a remake of the Danish thriller Murk/Mørke for Gold Circle Films. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gold Circle president Paul Brooks will produce alongside Bridge Films president Matthew Riklin. Scott Niemeyer and Norm Waitt will executive produce. Mørke, released in 2005, details a journalist’s investigation into his sister’s mysterious death on her wedding night and the whereabouts of her missing fiance....

The latest episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law dropped the name Thunderball, but the show quietly introduced one of the most dangerous villain teams in the Marvel Universe: the Wrecking Crew. Ok, maybe they didn’t seem so dangerous in She-Hulk, but the Wrecking Crew has been there for many major Marvel events, including Thunderbolts and Secret Wars, the last movie on the MCU’s Phase 6 roster. Thunderball is the scientist member of the Wrecking Crew, one of the most reliable gangs of villainous cronies for Marvel bad guys, mostly because they just keep breaking out of prison....

MegaMind will debut in theaters on November 5, and DreamWorks Animation is trying to break an interesting record to celebrate their new movie. On October 2, the studio will attempt to break the Guiness Book of World Records mark for “Largest Superhero Gathering” at location L.A. Live (800 W. Olympic Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90015) in downtown Los Angeles. Star Will Ferrell will be in attendance, and the event will start at 8 AM PST on Saturday, October 2, with a “mega-breakfast” set up for attendees....

There are some who feel that Pixar may have lost their touch as of late. Cars 2 was their first critical flop, although it did still take in $550 million worldwide in 2011. Last year’s Brave made more headlines for the “controversy” surrounding it than the movie itself, but, yes, that took in around $550 million worldwide too. The animation studio goes back to a familiar inkwell yet again with this summer’s Monsters University, a prequel to their 2001 hit Monsters Inc....

Jumping from planet to planet, sprawling landscapes and vistas, and world tours from one exotic location to another. These have become all too regular locales in some of our favorite movies. Through robust settings, audiences are taken on wild and over-the-top stories. On the flip side of that comes a much more intimate, condensed, and often claustrophobic viewing experience. A filmmaker will take one, two, or a whole group of characters and make a singular location the focal point of the story....

Mr. Malcolm’s List is a funny and charming period romance in the vein of Jane Austen. An ethnically diverse ensemble shakes off the usual costumed drabness with endearing chemistry and witty frivolity. The breezy pace and elegant settings help to keep hearts fluttering. The plot’s outcome is never in doubt. The happy ending is assured, but that doesn’t make the journey less enjoyable....

MTV has cast Poppy Drayton (When Calls the Heart) in the lead of its upcoming fantasy adventure series Shannara, based on the massive book series of the same name by Terry Brooks. Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are writing the 10 episode TV show. The story centers on the Shannara family, whose descendants are empowered with ancient magic. Their shared adventures continuously reshape the future of the world. Season 1 will be based on the novel The Elfstones Of Shannara, which is actually the second book in the series....
