It seems somewhat ironic that Roland Emmerich’s disaster epic Moonfall looks set to become an epic disaster as it failed to form a gravitational pull with early audiences. The film opened on Thursday in around 2300 locations across the U.S. but managed only to pull in $700,000, putting it well behind its attention-seeking rival, Jackass Forever, which opened to more than double the takings at $1.65 million. With reviews not being kind towards the latest movie from Independence Day director Emmerich, the box office figures certainly look set to be waning over the weekend....

Aaron Sorkin’s new HBO pilot More as the Story Develops is closing in on female cast members Marisa Tomei, Olivia Munn, and Alison Pill. All three actresses are in negotiations, although it is said that Marisa Tomei is the closest to finalizing her deal. Marisa Tomei will play the female lead, Mackenzie, an executive producer of a cable news show, which is anchored by Will McCallister (Jeff Daniels). Mackenzie is said to be completely devoted to her job, with everything else taking a back seat....

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine set photos keep coming today, with new shots of star Hugh Jackman on the set and in costume. Flynet Online brings us these pictures that primarily show Jackman grabbing a snack. Of note is one photo that shows an IV port on the back of Jackman’s hand. Pascal Laugier (director of the controversial horror film Martyrs), is in final negotiations to write and direct Dimension’s re-imagining of Clive Barker Presents: Hellraiser, one of Clive Barker’s best-loved creations. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the original Hellraiser was released in 1987 and told the story of an unfaithful wife who attempts to assist her dead lover in his escape from hell. The movie introduced viewers to a race of demons called Cenobites, most notably one nicknamed Pinhead – who became one of the most enduring horror characters of the decade – who was summoned using an antique puzzle box....

The new movie Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has brought the T-Virus back to the big screen with its recent premiere in theaters. From the start, writer-director Johannes Roberts has been making it clear that this new take on the franchise will be much more closely based on the original video games, a departure from the more action-heavy movie series from Paul W.S. Anderson. The reboot has been drawing some fairly mixed opinions from fans, and it’s faring worse with the critics with a “rotten” score on Rotten Tomatoes....

Once Ridley Scott is done with his Alien spin-off Prometheus, the director hopes to switch gears and helm a biopic about Gertrude Bell, a photographer and spy during World War I. Scott is currently seeking The Constant Gardener’s Jeffrey Caine to pen the screenplay. Ridley Scott plans to produce this project with Giannina Facio through his Scott Free production house. The duo hopes to lock in a strong and powerful actress to play the complicated Gertrude Bell, who thrived during a tumultuous time period not kind to women....

According to Variety, Bollywood helmer Mahesh Bhatt will make a film about the July suicide bombings in London that left 56 people dead. His aim is to show Islam as a religion of peace. Hindi-language pic Suicide Bomber will star Bhatt’s son Rahul as one of the bombers, the director said, adding that shooting of the 50 million rupee ($1 million) pic will start in June in London and India....

John Krasinski pleasantly surprised fans in May 2022 when he made his debut appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in the box office hit Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
