RGI Productions, in conjunction with Ray Bradbury, is moving forward on an adaptation of the author’s semi-autobiographical novel Dandelion Wine. Rodion Nahapetov, who is writing the screenplay, will produce alongside Natasha Shliapnikoff, Mike Medavoy, and Douglas Mckay. Dandelion Wine follows the adventures of 12 year old Green Town, Illinois resident Douglas Spaulding, who is growing up in the summer of 1928. Douglas is based on Ray Bradbury and the story closely mirrors his own childhood....

Butterfinger the 13th will be the first-ever film produced not by a major studio or filmmaker, but by one of America’s iconic candy brands. And signed on to make movie-making history with Butterfinger is none other than actor, producer, New York Times best-selling author, and now, first-time comedy-horror film director, Rob Lowe....

Few may recall some cast members of Saturday Night Live during the 1985-1986 season, but how many can remember Robert Downey Jr. being amongst that lineup? Joan Cusack, Nora Dunn, Anthony Michael Hall, Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller, Randy Quaid, Al Franken, Damon Wayans and yes, Robert Downey Jr. are some names that were a part of that season’s roster. Though many of the cast moved on to greater success, including Downey, that particular season was an utter flop with ratings so bad that the long-running sketch comedy series was briefly canceled....

Lionsgate knows the genre game and now they’re branching out to the indie scene. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is launching its Meridian DVD label this spring. The new collection will focus on indepedent film and international releases from both its own catalog and the more than 2,000 European releases from the Studio Canal library, which it also owns. “Because of our relationship with Studio Canal and looking at our own library, we thought there was an opportunity to present discerning consumers with these acclaimed and influential films,” said Anne Parducci, executive vp marketing at Lionsgate....

It’s official: Netflix wants more Love, Death + Robots. The series renewal has been officially announced by the streaming platform with a social media post, this following the success of the show’s first three seasons. Netflix simply states of the renewal, “Love, Death + Robots: Volume IV is a GO.” Love, Death + Robots, a 12-time Emmy-winning series, debuted its third season on May 20 from executive producers Tim Miller (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate), David Fincher (Mindhunter, Mank), Jennifer Miller, and Joshua Donen....

The original screenwriter of I Am Legend, Mark Protosevich has already pitched Warner Bros. on a sequel to the film which doesn’t arrive in theatres for another four months, according to The Los Angeles Times. No deal has yet been finalized. It has been ten years since Protosevich (The Cell, Poseidon) wrote an adaptation of Richard Matheson’s classic 1954 horror/sci-fi novel about the last man alive after a biological war....

We knew this was coming. Marvel is officially shuttering Marvel TV, its small screen division which saw a major shakeup earlier this year. Marvel Television will no longer be making any new TV series beyond what is already being produced. And those current shows will be folded into Marvel Studios, home to the current MCU. With the shuttering of Marvel TV also comes the elimination of many jobs at this particular division....

Superman Returns writers Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris have opted out of penning the long gestating sequel to their hit film. According to Variety, Warner Brothers is currently accepting pitches from other screenplay writers interested in the job. Word is, the studio is considering a completely fresh start. They will scrape any connection to the previous film, acting as if it never happened. Warner Brothers is apparently not happy with the introduction of Lois Lane’s super powered son, as well as the less than stellar box office numbers the previous film garnered....

Mike Tyson doesn’t approve of Hulu’s upcoming biographical series, Mike, which is inspired by his life but was produced without his permission. Tyson had expressed his displeasure when the show was announced as well and is also working with Jamie Foxx, Antoine Fuqua, and Martin Scorsese on an official biopic. Hulu’s Mike stars Moonlight breakout Trevante Rhodes as Mike Tyson and is described as an unfiltered and unbiased exploration of the boxer’s controversial life....

This year several movies finally hit the box office after some of the longest Covid delays, and this included Minions: The Rise of Gru, which arrived on July 4 as one of the films with a massive two years wait from when it was first expected to release. Along with Top-Gun: Maverick, the movie was delayed so long that it was able to have a feature trailer released at two non-consecutive Super Bowl events, and its other connection with the high-flying Tom Cruise movie is that it appears to have been worth the wait, as the Minions sequel has now passed $500 million at the international box office....

It may not be a Firefly revival, but this could be the next best thing. Nathan Fillion is going to be reprising his role as Captain Mal from Joss Whedon’s beloved sci-fi series, sort of, on an upcoming arc of ABC’s sitcom American Housewife. Fillion is set to feature on a two-episode arc, as himself, but he’s been wearing his old Firefly costume and has been teasing that Mal is going to factor into this American Housewife storyline....

Netflix has snapped up a new animated comedy series from the creators of King of The Hill and the US version of The Office called Bad Crimes. Creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels have come up with the concept. Having collaborated previously to develop the phenomenally successful King of The Hill, Netflix will have high hopes for the project. Away from animated TV shows, Daniels has worked on Saturday Night Live and was responsible for adapting the Ricky Gervais sitcom The Office for its US version, while Judge was the co-creator of The Goode Family and Silicon Valley, as well as the classic Beavis and Butt-Head....

What happens when two teens build a fake identification card empire that rises and falls over the course of ten episodes? We’ll find out with the new Netflix series Fakes. The series stars Emilija Baranac and Jennifer Tong as they build a business supplying their fellow teens with fake IDs rather than falling in love with one of their peers, with Richard Harmon playing the part of their business partner turned enemy/rival in the market....

MTV Studios and Quibi have released the official Punk’d reboot trailer. The new take on the show features Chance the Rapper as the host. Quibi has also revealed the full lineup of unsuspecting stars set to appear on the highly-anticipated series. Ashton Kutcher hosted the original MTV series, which started in 2003 and went until 2007. However, Punk’d has been reimagined for a new generation and is available only on Quibi starting Monday, April 6th....
