Netflix has acquired the global rights to the Taiwanese horror blockbuster Incantation, The Hollywood Reporter announced in an exclusive on Tuesday. The film, which hit Taiwanese theaters in March, will be released to worldwide audiences on Netflix July 8. Described as “the scariest Taiwanese film ever,” the found-footage, mockumentary-style film has already earned $5.7 million (TW$170 million) since its spring release, earning Incantation the designation of the top-earning original Taiwanese horror film of all time....

Netflix continues its collaboration with Dark Horse Comics, after their success with The Umbrella Academy, this time with an animated movie adapting the comic The Goon. After they lost all their Marvel shows in 2019, it is significant that they have another comic publisher they can pull from, and it is good that they are not adapting just superhero content. Comics are much more than that. The idea of The Goon started taking form in 1995 in a title called Best Cellars #1....

Dwayne Johnson is easily the busiest man in showbusiness. A new teaser for tomorrow’s Morbius trailer features lead star and Academy Award winner Jared Leto discussing the introduction of this new live action Marvel antihero. As well as giving us an insight into what drew Leto to the role, the clip features a host of new footage from the movie, including several shots of the actor having undergone a surprisingly comic book accurate transformation as The Living Vampire. “Morbius is a Marvel character who has been an important part of the universe,” Leto says in his explanation of who the lesser-known Marvel character is....

Comedy superstars Patton Oswalt and Glenn Howerton have signed on to star in an untitled high school comedy pilot that is set up at NBC, through writer Mike O’Brien (Saturday Night Live). NBC’s Late Night host Seth Meyers is serving as an executive producer alongside the writer and Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels. The project was originally titled AP Bio, but the producers are currently seeking a new title for the pilot....

Relativity Media is in talks with Universal to acquire the assets of Rogue Pictures, the studio’s genre label, for as much as $150 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The proposed deal would see Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity purchase more than 25 library titles, four upcoming films and more than 30 projects in development at Rogue, which was launched in 2004 as a division of Universal’s Focus Features. In 2007, Rogue became an independent specialty unit of the parent studio....

Quentin Tarantino’s debut feature film Reservoir Dogs is getting the 4K treatment for the very first time. Lionsgate has announced plans to release the 4K Blu-ray for the movie in commemoration of its 30th anniversary this year. Along with a regular edition 4K Blu-ray, a special SteelBook version will also be released, each with its own exclusive cover artwork. They’ll be arriving on Nov. 15, 2022.
