The 2013 comic book adaptation R.I.P.D. starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges is not exactly fondly remembered by either critics or audiences, but that has apparently not stopped a sequel from forging ahead in secret. Richard Attenborough has begun helming the long-in-the-works Shirley MacLaine starrer Closing the Ring in Belfast. Variety says, the romantic drama, from a script by Peter Woodward, is set in Ireland and North Carolina in 1993 and in 1943 during WWII. It also stars Christopher Plummer, Mischa Barton (The O.C.), Brenda Fricker (My Left Foot, The Field) and Peter Postlethwaite (The Constant Gardener). When a U.S. B-17 crashes near Belfast, a dying gunner asks a local to return his ring to his girlfriend in America....

The Good There are some very interesting movies on this release. The Bad Again, I thought these releases would have more extras. Masters of Horror: Season 1, Vol. 2 again offers us three films from three interesting directors. Matthew Vaughn’s take on Marvel Comic’s Thor is one of an epic tale taking place throughout Asgard (the home of the gods). Apparently, that epic scale is weighing on Vaughn, as he discussed in an interview with Metro International. I’ve done the script and we’re talking about it. But it’s a huge logistical and financial burden for anyone. So the budget is like 300 million at the moment, so we’re trying to reshape it and get it down....

The New York Times has posted an article about the upcoming movie projects, that Mike Myers is working on, which include three major products in the works: a comedy about a relationship guru; a drama about the demise of Keith Moon, the legendary drummer for the Who; and another comedy about an office worker under siege by robots. The newspaper states that David O’Connor (Mike Myer’s agent) says that none of these projects is likely to reach theaters until 2008....

Musical chameleon Mike Patton is going to sing the National Anthem at Tonight’s NFL on Fox playoff game in Los Angeles. The Disney+ series Ms. Marvel will be heading to the big screen in Pakistan. Taking to Instagram, series director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy made the official announcement that Ms. Marvel will be screen in theaters across the country. Back in early November, during a quarterly earnings conference call, Disney CEO Bob Iger dropped some huge news, revealing that the studio is working on a Star Wars Live-Action TV Show, which fans have been waiting years for.
