Cinedigm has released the official trailer for Boon, the sequel to last year’s action-thriller Red Stone. Bringing back Neal McDonough in the lead role, the sequel also puts Derek Presley back in the director’s chair, with the two picking up from where they left off to expand Nick Boon’s story. The film arrives in theaters and on digital and VOD on April 1, and you can check out the new trailer below....

A pair of new Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City clips put the spotlight on the Redfield siblings, with director Johannes Roberts introducing the two protagonists, Claire and Chris Redfield, to general audiences and explaining how they fit into the horror movie plot. First up is Claire, played by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales star Kaya Scodelario, who is one of the first to notice that something is afoot in Raccoon City....

Director-producer-writer Robert Altman has been voted an Honorary Award by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Award, an Oscar® statuette, will be presented at the 78th Academy Awards® Presentation on March 5, 2006. The Honorary Award will be given to Altman to honor “a career that has repeatedly reinvented the art form and inspired filmmakers and audiences alike.” Altman has received five Academy Award nominations for directing — for MAS*H, Nashville, The Player, Short Cuts and Gosford Park — as well as two additional nominations as a producer of Best Picture nominees Nashville and Gosford Park — but has never taken home the Oscar....

According to an article from The Hollywood Reporter, he’s been set to write and direct an adaptation of Ethan Pettus’ sci-fi war novel Primitive War! Sparke is no stranger to sci-fi, his previous writing and directing credits include 2018’s Occupation and its sequel, 2020’s Occupation: Rainfall....

That’s a wrap on the MacGyver reboot, as the CBS reboot has been canceled at the network after a five-season run. The show’s upcoming season 5 finale, set to air on April 30, will now serve as the series final with no season 6 coming. News of the show’s cancellation was confirmed in a statement provided by the network. “All of us at CBS are extremely grateful for the incredible work and dedication from Lucas and the rest of the cast, as well as Monica, the writers and the entire crew,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment, in a statement....

“I am overjoyed that Uma will be joining us to play President Claremont,” said director Matthew López. “Her intelligence, warmth, and humor are a perfect match for Casey’s iconic character. Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter revealed on his Twitter page earlier this week that rock star Marilyn Manson will have a guest-starring role in Season 7, debuting on FX sometime this fall. Kurt Sutter revealed in a February episode of his WTF Sutter podcast that he wants Marilyn Manson to provide some music for the final season. That podcast episode also revealed that Season 7 may be extended past its normal 13-episode length, while addressing that he is, “really trying to do my very best” to get all of the episodes down to 60 minutes apiece, since several Season 6 episodes were criticized for running well past the normally-allotted time....

Even though Ms. Marvel may be the highest rated MCU show to date, that hasn’t stopped some fans complaining about the changes made to the MCU’s newest addition. Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel arrived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to a huge critical response, but also the promise that there would be a number of differences between this version of Kamala and her comic book counterpart. The main changes come down to Kamala’s powers being linked to her Inhuman DNA in her comic book appearances, but as the Inhumans don’t exist in the MCU – or at least this universe of the MCU – this has led to a switch in both her origin and her abilities....

Universal Pictures has put out an open casting call for Nancy Meyers’ latest comedy, which will star the likes of Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin. The studio is currently looking for a young male to play the character of Edward, a high school senior, in the untitled project. They are hoping to find the next Michael Cera /McLovin type to play a 17-year-old in this upcoming film, which will shoot in New York and Los Angeles in early 2009....

Game time is over for Ellen DeGeneres. Deadline reports that NBC has just given the television star’s game show Ellen’s Game of Games the boot. Its fourth season, which debuted in October 2020 before concluding in May 2021 after 20 episodes, will serve as its final season with no season 5 in the works. When Ellen’s Game of Games first launched in 2017 with an eight-episode order, it did rather well with NBC viewers....

NBC has announced the renewal of five key drama series for the 2013-14 season: Revolution, Chicago Fire, Parenthood, Grimm, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. All have been given 22-episode orders. The announcement was made by Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment. Revolution, the Monday night drama that centers on a family trying to reunite amidst a worldwide power failure, is executive produced by Eric Kripke, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (Lost, Star Trek)....
