Mel Gibson, fresh off his Mexico-based epic Apocalypto, is thinking of heading south to film a movie in Panama, tourism officials said Monday. Gibson dined Sunday night with Ruben Blades, a tourism spokesman and singer, who suggested his next project should be a remake of the 1950 film noir “Panic in the Streets,” set in Panama, the Panama Tourism Bureau said in a news release. Panamanian filmmaker Jose Severino was quoted in Monday editions of the daily newspaper La Prensa as saying that he was in negotiations with Gibson to produce a movie about Spanish explorer Vasco Nunez de Balboa, the first European to see the Pacific Ocean from its eastern shore....

Not that long ago, there was an idea put forward by Dave Bautista on social media that he and Jason Momoa should get together and “do a Lethal Weapon style buddy cop movie” together. It seems that one actor in particular may be arresting the development of a TV series adaptation. According to Fancast, Arrested Development series creator Mitch Hurwitz recently spoke to the rumors that Will Arnett and Michael Cera were the lone holdouts for the feature film, and it seems that Cera is the only one. Hurwitz also said that he won’t get to work on the script once his cast is fully locked in place, but he did drop a few notes on what he’d like to do with the story....

The buzz surrounding Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling keeps growing. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Wilde, who directs and appears in the psychological thriller, said that the Motion Picture Association “came down hard” on the film’s trailer, leading to scenes being cut from the trailer. Wilde told the Associated Press: While Wilde seems to be proud of the sensuality presented in her film, Florence Pugh, the star’s film, recently told Harper’s Bazaar that she would not be discussing Don’t Worry Darling’s racier scenes....

Back in December, we reported that Legendary Pictures postponed production on Paradise Lost, director Alex Proyas’ adaptation of the classic John Milton poem. Bradley Cooper, who is attached to play Lucifer in Paradise Lost, revealed they hope to start shooting this summer. Our earlier report stated that Legendary Pictures was trying to cut between 10% and 15% of the proposed $120 million budget. The 3D project, which will be shot using motion-capture technology, is slated for an eight-week shoot....

In a story from Variety, Paramount Film Group’s president Adam Goodman recently had the studio pony up seven figures for the action-comedy pitch License to Steal. Screenwriter Shane Salerno will write the script. The pitch is based on Marc Weingarten’s Salon.com article that looks at the high-end repo business. Apparently, these repo men go all over the world to “reclaim play toys including private jets and speedboats.” Writer-producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be producing License to Steal....

As Marvel’s hit TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues its Season 4 run, we have two new clips from next week’s episode, Hot Potato Soup, which airs Tuesday, January 31 at 9 PM ET on ABC, and features the return of a beloved character. This footage gives us our first look at the returning Agent Koenig, played by Patton Oswalt, who hasn’t been seen since the 20th episode of Season 3, entitled Scars....

Lionsgate, the leading next generation studio, announced today that it will re-team with filmmaker Paul Haggis for his latest feature, the thriller The Next Three Days, an adaptation of the French film Pour Elle. Lionsgate has acquired remake rights from Wild Bunch and Fidelite Films. The Next Three Days will mark the first collaboration between the studio and Haggis since Crash, the Lionsgate release for which Haggis received the 2005 Academy Awards for Best Motion Picture and Best Original Screenplay, and a nomination for Best Director....
