The “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2021 is Paul Rudd, this according to the staff at People who’ve once again named their pick for the year’s “sexiest” male celebrity. In the days leading up to the reveal, there had been rumors that Rudd’s Avengers co-star Chris Evans would be given the honor, but Stephen Colbert revealed the official cover with his name and face on The Late Show on Tuesday night. It’s the first time the 52-year-old has earned the title....

Former Numb3rs star David Krumholtz has joined the cast of the NBC pilot Playboy, which Amber Heard recently signed on to star in. The show centers on a Chicago Playboy club in the year 1963, telling the tales of its employees and patrons. David Krumholtz will play the general manager of the club, who is a bit of a nerd and is always keeping an eye on the club’s bottom line....

The recent claim made by Kanye West that he was the one who came up with the idea for Django Unchained isn’t quite true, according to the director of the film. Recently, Ye turned some heads when he told Piers Morgan in an interview that he’d pitched the concept of Django Unchained to Quentin Tarantino and Jamie Foxx. The rapper said he wanted to use the idea for his “Gold Digger” music video, but when the pitch was scrapped, Tarantino went on to turn it into a feature film....

Robert Downey Jr. has joined a new untitled musical for Warner Bros. that was created by the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning Next to Normal composing team of Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey. Downey Jr. will produce the project with his wife Susan Downey through their Team Downey production banner. The screenplay will center on two Broadway singer-songwriters who suddenly find themselves creatively and financially bankrupt when their latest big time musical is a flop....

The actor talks about his new film, plus gives us the lowdown on the new David Fincher film. Robert Downey Jr. had us all in stitches. He’s a pretty funny guy and had no problems having fun during the interview. I don’t think I’ve ever had to edit out this many expletives from an interview. A Scanner Darkly was a labor of love for him. We didn’t get too into his past, and the relevance of drug use as a motivation, but it seemed understood....

We like our killers with compassion. The James Bonds, Ethan Hunts, and John Wicks of the world wouldn’t intentionally kill an innocent bystander for being in the way; that would shatter the illusion that, no matter their body count, these are our heroes. Even our antiheroes seemingly need some relatable morsel of empathy; if Dexter or Tony Soprano killed a toddler, we couldn’t look past all the other horrible minutiae of their daily violence....

Last night, Marvel’s The Avengers held its world premiere in Hollywood, in advance of its theatrical release May 4. I was one of the lucky few (hundreds) in attendance last night, and I, like seemingly everyone else, absolutely loved director Joss Whedon’s superhero ensemble. While my full review is under embargo for now, lets take a look at some of the reactions from my colleagues and others who attended last night’s premiere, which was held at both the El Capitan Theater and the Grauman’s Chinese Theater....

The sexiest man alive plays a doting father and football coach Matthew McConaughey is an upbeat guy with loads of charisma. After an early morning start and some seriously lackluster interviews, Matthew breezed into our hotel room with a toothy grin and the craziest plaid suit I’ve ever seen. His mood was infectious and soon the serious talk led way to more lighthearted fair. We are Marshall is the tragic, yet inspirational story of the plane crash that killed the Marshall University football team and the people who rebuilt the team the following year....

Rob Zombie proved that he was an interesting director of remakes with his two Halloween films. He didn’t just remake them, he also updated them so that the films were in sync with his vision of unhinged rednecks and graphic violence. Like Quentin Tarantino, Zombie pays homage to the films that influenced him, something seen in his own movies, videos, and music. Zombie’s aesthetic is similar to splatterpunk horror legend Edward Lee, an author whose book White Trash Gothic perfectly sums up in its title the vision of both Lee and Zombie alike....

MTV is moving forward with a pilot that is reinventing the 1985 movie Teen Wolf, that starred Michael J. Fox as a teenager who discovers he is a werewolf. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the MTV version will be set in high school, draw from the horror genre to explore werewolf mythology and include a romantic plot line. The cable network announced the project in January as part of its development slate....

Here we got to see the short film Super Rhino, a humorous little short which shows us the tiny hamster Rhino coming to save the day....
