A recent Re-Animator reunion even included one of the most notable props from the cult classic horror film. In the Stuart Gordon film, which was released in 1985, Jeffrey Combs stars as Herbert West, a medical student who discovers how to “re-animate” dead bodies with a special serum. Horror legend Barbara Crampton also stars in a main role as the Dean’s daughter Megan while David Gale played Dr. Hill, an enemy of Herbert’s who winds up having his head severed and re-animated....

Lower Decks! Lower Decks! Lower Decks! That’s the sound of Beckett Mariner, played by Tawny Newsome, celebrating IDW Publishing’s most recent announcement. First rumored in October 2021, after Star Trek: Lower Decks series creator Mike McMahan hinted on Twitter that fans would eventually see a continuation of the California class crew’s stories on the comic book page, IDW officially announced that the Lower Deckers are making their comic book debut in a new series from writer Ryan North (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Adventure Time) and artist Chris Fenoglio (Goosebumps, X-Files)....

Another new name has been added to the cast of Renfield and along with this announcement comes some new plot details. As the title of the film suggests, the Universal movie will primarily follow Dracula’s henchman as the lackey finally slips into more of the central role. With Nicholas Hoult in the lead role, the movie will also feature Nicolas Cage, Awkwafina, and Ben Schwartz. Now, it’s been reported that Adrian Martinez (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Focus) has just boarded the cast as well....

The first trailer for the upcoming horror-comedy Renfield reveals our first official look at Nicolas Cage as Count Dracula. A very familiar villain nearly made it into Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City, or at least an apparent reference to that antagonist, but it won’t be seen on the big screen. Set to premiere exclusively in theaters, the new Resident Evil movie comes from writer and director Johannes Roberts. It features very little resemblance to the previous movies in the series with the intention of following the video game source material much more closely....

Endgame Entertainment and FilmDistrict are partnering on the theatrical release of Rian Johnson’s Looper, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, and Emily Blunt. The film will be released in the U.S. through FilmDistrict’s relationship with Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Tri Star label. With a screenplay written and directed by Rian Johnson, the film is produced by Ram Bergman, Endgame Entertainment’s James D. Stern and in association with DMG. Endgame Entertainment’s Doug E. For the most part, I really enjoyed directors Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 experimental film “Grindhouse,” although by all accounts the experiment was not exactly successful. The film, which opened as a combination of two movies, Rodriguez’s “Planet Terror” and Tarantino’s “Death Proof,” were flanked with outrageous trailers to movies that don’t exist like Rob Zombie’s “Werewolf Women Of The SS,” Edgar Wright’s “Don’t,” Eli Roth’s “Thanksgiving” and the extremely popular Machete directed by Rodriguez and starring Danny Trejo....

Comedian Margaret Cho will guest-star as “Nicole Cofeld,” a friend of Joy Stark’s (Joely Fisher), on ‘TIL DEATH. Cho begins production this week and will appear in an episode airing in early 2007. Guest star Anthony Anderson will return to the show as “Cofeld,” Eddie’s (Brad Garrett) friend and Nicole’s husband. ‘TIL DEATH airs Thursdays (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Cho’s character “Nicole” is Joy’s “fight friend” - a friend Joy turns to for help when she and Eddie (Brad Garrett) are fighting....

One of the breakout stars of the new sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife is young Mckenna Grace. In the movie, the 15-year-old plays Phoebe, granddaughter of Harold Ramis’ Egon Spengler who winds up following in his footsteps. Phoebe is one part of an ensemble of new characters that are picking up from where the original Ghostbusters team left off in the 1980s with the first two movies. Many fans have noticed some similarities between Egon and his granddaughter, and in a new interview with Collider, Grace herself spoke about taking on the important role in Ghostbusters: Afterlife....

A new Midnight Run movie is happening with original star Robert De Niro returning to serve as a producer. Ayesha Carr (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) has been tapped by Universal to write the screenplay for the new movie, though story details have not been disclosed, such as if and how this new installment might link to the first Midnight Run. Regina Hall has also boarded the project to lead the cast, but no others cast members have been announced as of yet....

The 1990s were a gold mine for horror classics. It was a decade that produced such hits as; Scream, The Silence of the Lambs, The Sixth Sense, Candyman, and The Blair Witch Project. Through all of those successful movies, one in particular stands ahead of the pack. Misery hit theaters on November 30th, 1990. It’s official: Mo will be coming back for another season at Netflix, though there’s also a catch, as season 2 has also been announced as the last of the comedy series. Originally debuting on Netflix in August, Mo stars Mo Amer as a Palestinian refugee seeking asylum in Texas, and Amer is essentially playing a fictionalized version of himself. Amer created the series with Ramy Youssef in addition to starring in the lead role....

As has been proven a number of times now, even those Marvel projects that seem to start out all light and airy don’t maintain their joy all the way through. After the likes of WandaVision saw a dramatic turn towards the end of the series, it looks like Ms. Marvel will be going the same way according to recent comments by directors Adil El Arbi and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. While the opening of Marvel Studios’ new Disney+ show has seen a light-hearted and fun tone, fans should prepare themselves for some more “Marvel-esque” action and darkness to come....
