The love triangle between Archie, Betty, and Veronica was a big part of the Archie Comics, so it made sense that Riverdale would have used the established love triangle in its early episodes. The first season did highlight the love triangle, especially the pilot episode focused on the growing complex relationships between Veronica, Betty, and Archie. However, it did not end there. Even after Archie and Veronica eventually got together, the love triangle remained a background element of the show, teasing Archie and Betty’s friendship, perhaps being on the verge of something more, and showing them kissing while in relationships with others more than once....

Although the critically-acclaimed AMC series Mad Men failed in its bid to win five straight Emmy’s for Best Drama Series last year, losing out to Showtime’s buzzworthy Homeland, don’t think for one second that the show is losing a step.
