Beloved studio Aardman Animations has confirmed that work is now underway for a new Wallace & Gromit movie, which will debut on Netflix in 2024. This will be the first time that the man-and-dog duo has been seen on screen since the 2008 short film Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death, with the new movie coming in conjunction with several other Wallace and Gromit-centered projects in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers....

Continuing the story established by Full House, almost all of the prominent cast members returned to the revival for multiple appearances. However, one particular member of the Tanner family was noticeably absent, with Michelle nowhere to be found. The Black Donnellys – NBC’s highly anticipated, gritty new crime serial from Emmy Award and Oscar nominee Paul Haggis (Million Dollar Baby, Crash) – will join the network’s new Fall schedule for 2006-07, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment. “We feel we have a head start into Fall with Paul Haggis’ ‘The Black Donnellys’ on our side and already locked into place,” said Reilly. “This is a high-intensity show that bears its own creative stamp and points to the dramatic direction that NBC is headed....

George Lucas’s tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen is short on historical context, but high on action. Red Tails is more of a summer action film, filled with patriotic fervor and a broad spotlight on the pioneer black fighter pilots of the US military. This is the kind of film that most critics will pander and most audiences will enjoy. The characters are likeable, but uncomplicated. The special effects are incredible, probably the best we’ve seen of old school aerial dogfights....

Redbox, the popular DVD rental kiosk provider, and wholly-owned subsidiary of Coinstar, Inc., today announced it has started rolling out Blu-ray titles with availability at approximately 13,300 kiosks nationwide. Redbox will rent Blu-ray Discs at $1.50 per night plus tax and the company expects to have availability across its network of approximately 23,000 kiosk locations by the fall. “Offering Blu-ray rentals is an exciting opportunity for redbox to expand our product offerings and build on the relationships that we’ve established with millions of consumers nationwide,” said Mitch Lowe, president, redbox....

The Academy Awards had everybody talking after what happened during the ceremony on Sunday night, but not for the best reasons. During the show, comedian Chris Rock joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, a comment that has sparked backlash considering her struggles with alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss. Smith then approached Rock on the stage and slapped him across the face before returning to his seat and shouting at Rock to stop joking about his wife....

It’s campaign time at Riverdale High as Alice Cooper (Madchen Amick) moderates an assembly of the three pairs of students running for student council president in the latest episode The Noose Tightens. The prospective candidates being Jughead/Betty (Cole Sprouse/Lili Reinhart) aka Team Bughead, Veronica/Archie (Camila Mendes/KJ Apa) aka Team Varchie, and Josie/Reggie (Ashleigh Murray/Charles Melton) aka Team Rosie. While Bughead promises to make sure the North and Southside get equal representation, Varchie says they won’t let their opposing parent’s mayoral race affect them wanting what is best for the school....

CBS’ Magnum P.I. reboot has brought on director Justin Lin to take the helm on the pilot episode, and serve as an executive producer. The director will executive produce alongside Danielle Woodrow from the director’s production company, Perfect Storm Entertainment, along with series creators/showrunners Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim, John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment, CBS TV Studios and Universal TV Studios. It isn’t clear just yet when filming will begin on the pilot....

On New Year’s Day, actor Jeremy Renner had an unfortunate snowplow accident at his home in Reno, Nevada. Due to the mishap, the star ended up in the intensive care unit, where he remains as of today. In response to Renner’s accident, People reported that one of Renner’s former costars, Mark Ruffalo, recently took to Instagram to ask his fans to pray for the injured Hurt Locker star. “Prayers up for our brother @jeremyrenner on a full and speedy recovery,” Ruffalo posted on his Instagram story along with an image of a report of Renner’s snowplow accident....

It’s the end of an era for daytime television. After more than three decades on the air, Deadline reports that the long-running talk show Maury, featuring Maury Povich, has just been canceled by NBCUniversal. The series is reportedly set to end production at the end of its current season, which will result in new episodes continuing to air through September. While new episodes will no longer be produced, the show is not leaving the airwaves as repeats will still be airing in syndication....

Screenwriter Michael Dougherty is getting robotic in a new way. According to Variety, the scribe has teamed up with Walt Disney Pictures and Robert Zemeckis’ ImageMovers company for Calling All Robots. The project is said to utilize the same animation and motion-capture technologies used in Zemeckis’ recent film Beowulf. Dougherty will write alongside Breehn Burns and Simeon Wilkins, who also devised the concept with Dougherty and will also serve as artists and visual desingers for the film....

Collider recently sat down with Michele and Kieran Mulroney to discuss their new film Paper Man. These two were also commissioned by Warner Bros. to write a Sherlock Holmes sequel. In fact they began to write it before the first Sherlock Holmes was released. During their interview they even dropped a little update about the direction that the new film might be going in. Particularly they broached the subject of Brad Pitt playing Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2....

First Lady Michelle Obama is set to make a special cameo appearance on the season finale of NBC’s critically acclaimed comedy Parks and Recreation. The Season 6 finale is set for Thursday, April 24 (8-9 p.m. ET). Mrs. Obama’s scene in the episode titled “Moving Up” was filmed in late February in Miami where she celebrated investments in healthier out-of-school programs as part of her “Let’s Move” initiative dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity....
