Early this week, Ridley Scott revealed some important details about his upcoming Untitled Alien Prequel, which you can read here. Now, with the director out promoting his latest adventure Robin Hood, more information has surfaced in regards to the film. Scott confirmed to Collider what art director Roger Christian told us back in March: The Untitled Alien Prequel will be shot in 3D. Not only that, the director has not one, but two prequels planned in continuing on with this long running 20th Century Fox franchise....

More interested in making Universal’s samurai action drama 47 Ronin starring Keanu Reeves, director Carl Rinsch has decided to leave Warner Bros. sci-fi remake Logan’s Run in the dust. According to The Hollywood Reporter, both projects were vying to be commercial helmer Rinsch’s feature length debut. 47 Ronin won the race after Universal set the movie with a November 21st, 2012 release date, making it a “go” picture. Concept art and location scouting have already begun on this 18th Century Japanese tale following a gang of samurai who head out to avenge the death of their master....

Mandalay Independent Pictures has picked up screen rights for Salvation Boulevard, the upcoming mystery novel by Larry Beinhart. George Ratliff is set to write and direct the script. According to Variety, Salvation Boulevard will be published in the fall by Nation Books, and has a satirical bent targeting organized religion. The story revolves around a private detective who investigates the killing of a professor. Mark Burnett and Mike Darnell are teaming on the kids game show, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? for Fox. The show will put one ordinary adult in a classroom set filled with about five average fifth graders; Variety says contestants will start out with $100,000 but will then have to gamble that coin by answering a series of general knowledge questions. The twist: All the questions will come from textbooks aimed at fifth graders and below....
Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn will helm X-Men: First Class, a new chapter in Twentieth Century Fox’s blockbuster series of films based on the Marvel Comics. X-Men: First Class begins production this summer for a June 3, 2011 release. Mission: Impossible III, which has already achieved worldwide box office success, will be released in theaters across China on July 18. You can bring one popular 3D animated adventure home on DVD and Blu-ray this September. Monsters Vs. Aliens will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on September 29. The film will be released in a single-disc edition, a Two-Disc Ginormous Edition, which comes with the bonus animated film, B.O.B.’s Big Break, and the Blu-ray edition. Each edition will also come with four pairs of 3D glasses, although we don’t have pricing details on each edition as of yet....

Actor Nicholas Lyndhurst has joined the Frasier revival, Variety reports. Lyndhurst will reunite with Frasier lead Kelsey Grammer, as the two previously collaborated in the English National Opera’s Man of La Mancha. He is the first known cast member joining the anticipated Paramount+ series. While the series looked to feature the key members of its original cast, only Grammer is currently attached to the series. In November, Grammer confirmed that David Hyde Pierce (who famously played his brother Niles) would not reprise his role....
