Relativity Media has brought on James McTeigue to direct their gangster drama Ness/Capone. We first reported on this project back in April when Relativity acquired the project. Grant Pierce Myers wrote the screenplay, which landed on the 2010 Black List, and puts a fresh twist on the war between law enforcer Elliot Ness and Chicago gangster Al Capone in the 1920s. This story portrays Ness as an attention-seeking womanizer who took great joy in taking down the mobster....

Zack Snyder and company have decided to use Memorial Day weekend as their chance to honor a different set of heroes of old - The Minutemen, the heroic precursors to the characters in Watchmen. Punisher: War Zone is preparing to blast it’s way into theatres, and as a result, the good folks at Lionsgate have released some new images from the film, along with the first television spot. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are coming to Lanford. The Prince of Darkness and his wife will be on next week’s episode of The Conners, titled Beards, Thrupples and Robots. The hard rockin’ couple will be playing themselves and it will double as a reunion between Sara Gilbert and Sharon, who worked together for years on The Talk. In a picture from their cameo, we see Ozzy and Sharon seated at the Lunch Box looking pretty wholesome....

It was announced yesterday that Peter Jackson has teamed up with New Line Cinema and MGM to produce two The Hobbit movie … the precursor to the The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Nothing was mentioned of whether Jackson would write or direct the two film and Entertainment Weekly has shed some light on this matter: The site reports that directors Sam Raimi (Spider-Man), Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth), and Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men) are still the names that come up as alternate possibilities, but no official creative decision has been made....

Ray Winstone has signed up to star in writer/director Rob Green’s upcoming vampire thriller Live Girls. Live Girls, according to Darclight, focuses on the mild mannered Davey, who visits a strip club for the first time in his life and is spellbound by diabolically sexy dancer Anya. But following a wild night of ecstasy he’s bewildered to discover himself changing in ways he can’t understand, and consumed by cravings that can’t be quenched....

Toshiba Corporation and RealD today announced that the companies will cooperate in bringing 3D technology to Toshiba TVs, including support for the stereoscopic RealD Format, as Toshiba advances development of REGZA TVs able to deliver HD quality 3D content. The companies will also work together on technology for active eyewear compatible with Toshiba 3D-enabled displays. “Toshiba plans to introduce 3D into our REGZA line-up of Full-HD LCD TVs in 2010, and we are delighted to work with RealD, the clear leader in the industry,” said Masaaki Osumi, President and CEO, Digital Media Network Company, Toshiba Corporation....

Principal photography has begun in Toronto on Summit Entertainment’s spy-thriller Red, based on the DC Comics graphic novel of the same name by Warren Ellis. Joining previously announced stars Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker and Academy Award-winners Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman, are two-time Academy Award-nominee John Malkovich, Karl Urban, Brian Cox, Academy Award-winners Richard Dreyfuss and Ernest Borgnine, Julian McMahon, James Remar and Rebecca Pidgeon. Red is the story of Frank Moses (Willis), a former black-ops CIA agent, who is now living a quiet life....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate on Wednesday purchased worldwide rights to the apocalyptic terrorist thriller Right at Your Door from producers Jonah Smith and Palmer West of Thousand Words. First-time feature director Chris Gorak’s story of toxic bombs exploding across Los Angeles is told mainly through the relationship between a married couple, played by Mary McCormack and Rory Cochrane. When it first screened Monday evening at the Sundance Film Festival, Door attracted the attention of Lionsgate director of acquisitions Eda Kowan, president of international Nick Meyer and president of theatrical films Tom Ortenberg....

Four months after Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin revealed that a fifth Game of Thrones prequel spin-off is being developed, we finally know who’s working on the series. Bryan Cogman, a longtime Game of Thrones writer and producer has been tapped to develop this series alongside author George R.R. Martin, although, unfortunately, no plot details have been given at this time. It remains to be seen which of these shows will actually be picked up to series, once the final season airs in either 2018 or perhaps 2019....

Alex Steyermark, director of Prey for Rock and Roll and One Last Thing… will direct Kyle Gallner of recent A Nightmare on Elm Street fame as well as Warehouse 13 star Allison Scagliotti and Tania Raymonde of Lost in the upcoming film Losers Take All. The picture began principal photography earlier this week in and around Memphis, Tennessee. The cast also includes Alexia Rasmussen (Listen to Your Heart), Aaron Himelstein (Joan of Arcadia, The Informers), Billy Kay (Yelling to the Sky), Adam Herschman (Soul Men, Accepted) and newcomer Peter Brensinger....
