Netflix’s Strong Black Lead has announced that a bunch of classic 1990s sitcoms will be streaming soon. Sister, Sister and Moesha, Girlfriends, The Game, One on One, The Parkers and Half & Half are all coming to the streaming service over the next few months and people are already pretty excited about it. To make the announcement, Netflix released a video featuring Tracee Ellis Ross, Essence Atkins, Jackée Harry, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Tia and Tamera Mowry, and more....

Emily Deschanel is a doctor again in a new thriller mini-series from Netflix. Devil in Ohio, based on the book of the same name by Daria Polatin, will follow Deschanel as Dr. Suzanne Mathis, a hospital psychiatrist whose life changes forever after she takes in a girl that has escaped from a cult. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the series had been picked up for an eight-episode run by the streaming service and that Deschanel was cast as the lead in September 2021....

The Lost City directing duo Aaron and Adam Nee are gearing up to helm the long, long-awaited Masters of the Universe movie for Mattel Studios and Netflix, with the pair having now teased what audiences can expect from their take on this beloved 80s institution. Speaking with Variety, the Nee Brothers heaped praise on their leading man, West Side Story star Kyle Allen, who is attached to play He-Man, and teased the parkour and “Jackie Chan-style crazy action stuff” that the character will perform in the movie....

Sorry, Stephen King fans, this isn’t the miniseries reboot you’ve been hoping for. Not to be confused with the King novel or 2002 miniseries adaptation, Red Rose is a new horror series from BBC and Netflix coming soon. It will follow a group of teens who download an app that seems controlled by an evil entity, trying to force them to commit acts and threaten them if they don’t. The series comes from the minds of Michael and Paul Clarkson, well-known for their other Netflix horror series, The Haunting of Bly Manor....

Fans of The Waterboy will get the chance to see Captain Insano performing live. Back in the Frank Coraci-directed comedy, which was released in 1998, Paul Wight appeared as Captain Insano, a professional wrestler and the personal hero of Adam Sandler’s Bobby Boucher. At one point in the film, Bobby calls in during a live TV broadcast and offers his services as a waterboy to the pro wrestler. Bobby eye gouges a football player in another scene in honor of his favorite wrestler, as he utters the phrase, “Captain Insano shows no mercy....

Penny Dreadful promises both a curse and a blessing in the latest look at Season 2, which has just debuted a new trailer full of never-before-seen footage. Eva Green is seen as Vanessa Ives, who is learning to make use of the gifts she has been given. And this latest sneak peek promises this year will be much scarier than the last. Series stars Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Helen McCrory and Simon Russell Beale are also set to return, alongside new cast members Sarah Greene, Jonny Beauchamp, Douglas Hodge and Patti Lupone....

Lionsgate has nabbed The Office’s Craig Robinson to star in Rapturepalooza as the Ant-Christ. Paul Middleditch is directing this end of the world comedy from writer Chris Matheson. Rapturepalooza is one of three new movies Lionsgate is lining up as part of their newly launched micro-budgeted movie slate. The second entry is titled Gay Dude, which is being compared to Superbad. Only in this comedy from Parks and Recreation writer Alan Yang, the Jonah Hill character turns out to have homosexual feelings towards his best friend, which he confesses during a wild run to lose his virginity....

With the highly, highly successful conclusion of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End still fresh in everyone’s minds, it’s not so outlandish to think that the “me, too!” crowd has crawled out of the woodwork. The Travel Channel’s revival of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! with Bruce Campbell has been given an official release date for this summer. On Sunday, June 9, at 9 p.m. ET, the 10-episode season will premiere its first episode, with each hour-long episode airing in the following weeks. As with any TV series, overall viewership will determine if a follow-up season will be ordered by the network. Campbell will serve as the host for all ten episodes of the revival, and it seems likely he would return if the Travel Channel offers to bring him back should the series be successful....
