While AMC’s groundbreaking drama series Mad Men has been off the air for more than two years now, the show was making headlines earlier this month, when Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner was accused of sexual harassment by former staff writer Kater Gordon. The writer, who won an Emmy for co-writing the Season 2 finale with Matthew Weiner, revealed that, while writing that episode, Weiner said she owed it to him to let him see her naked, since she quickly rose through the ranks from an assistant to becoming a staff writer....

The NFL and NBC have officially announced that Madonna will be performing during the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show, teaming up with Cirque du Soleil and Jamie King for the performance. Here is the official announcement: Madonna, a multi Grammy Award-winning Universal Records recording artist, will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show on NBC at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sunday, February 5, the NFL and NBC announced during tonight’s Sunday Night Football game between the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions....

Marvel Studios has now confirmed which directors will be behind several of their upcoming projects ,including the MCU Blade reboot, Captain America 4, and Thunderbolts. As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Mogul Mowgli director Bassam Tariq will helm Blade; Captain America 4, which will be titled Captain America: New World Order, will be directed by Luce and The Cloverfield Paradox filmmaker Julius Onah; and finally, Thunderbolts will be directed by Paper Towns’ Jake Schreier....

When Anna Kendrick said she wanted to be in a Squirrel Girl movie, no one thought it would really happen. And it isn’t. But Marvel’s most popular comic book character at the moment is getting her own TV show. Kind of. She will be the lead character in Freeform’s upcoming adventure drama New Warriors. While Squirrel Girl was part of the original press release sent out by Marvel and Freeform to announce the show a few months ago, none of the other characters had been unveiled....

Marvel actor Anthony Mackie will be listening to Tupac in preparation for his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America 4. Speaking with Variety while attending the 2022 Grammy Awards, Mackie revealed that he chooses a specific song for every character he plays. He will be using a particular track by Tupac to get back into the mindset of MCU hero Sam Wilson. When asked which song he will be listening to when he suits up in the red, white, and blue of Captain America for the upcoming sequel, Mackie revealed that it would be a track by rap legend Tupac Shakur....

In a story from Variety, MGM is moving into a potential asset auction over the next several months. The studio is exploring “a possible sale, merger or remaining as a stand-alone” entity. MGM let it be known that bondholders are going to hold off receiving debt payments until Jan. 31. This was the second exemption on an undisclosed amount of interest payments on its $3.7 billion in debt in the past 2 months....

There is one scene in Katayama Shinzo’s debut, Missing, that offers a striking quote: “There are some people in this world that want to die. They want to, but they can’t express it.” Missing, which was scheduled to release domestically in Japanese theaters in 2022, is the feature film debut of Katayama Shinzo. As a director, he first made his name at the 2018 Skip City International D-Cinema Festival when he won Best Picture for his film Siblings of the Cape; this was his first-ever endeavor as a director....

Oscar Isaac does fantastic double duty in a surprisingly mediocre Marvel Studios limited series. Moon Knight tells the story of a man with dissociative identity order who channels the spirit of a wrathful Egyptian god, Khonshu. He battles Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke), a cult leader who passes lethal judgment on behalf of another Egyptian deity, Ammit. Moon Knight moves at a sluggish pace as it reveals the characters involved in an apocalyptic scenario....

Spoiler Warning: Ms. Marvel Season One The first season of Ms. Marvel just wrapped on Disney+ to astounding critical success. The show was part of a new turn for Disney, being one among the few productions that focuses more directly on cultures that are not American. While this may have alienated some domestic audiences, what it did for the Marvel canon was astounding. Not only has it opened up the Marvel world to expand into more places besides America and space, but it’s also created another link in the chain that connects this new generation of superheroes....

The star-studded British drama My Policeman is expected to join the pantheon of gay romance adaptations with Maurice, Brokeback Mountain, Call Me By Your Name, and Love, Simon. This film is based on a well-received 2012 novel written by Bethan Roberts, which The Guardian described as “A humane and evocative portrait of a time when lives were destroyed by intolerance.” With Harry Styles cast in the lead role, needless to say, it’s been the talk of the town among his devotees....

HD DVD’s days just seem to be getting darker. With the industry now having picked a winner in the face-off between the two competing high- definition DVD formats, Netflix, Inc., the world’s largest online movie rental service, today said that it will move toward stocking high-def DVDs exclusively in the Blu-ray format. Citing the decision by four of the six major movie studios to publish high-def DVD titles only in the Sony-developed Blu-ray format, Netflix said that as of now it will purchase only Blu-ray discs and will phase out by roughly year’s end the alternative high-def format, HD DVD, developed by Toshiba....

Personally, if I had to pull out my favorite Netflix original from the past year and present it to someone as a gift, I’d be stuffing Game Over, Man! in everyone’s stocking. Coming early in the year, this action comedy from the gang responsible for Workaholics offered up not just Netflix’s best original movie of the year, but perhaps the best comedy of 2018. But there were plenty of other big TV shows and movies that folks across the world ‘fell in binge with’, as the streaming service puts it....

Audiences are ready to return to the most beloved museum in cinema with the upcoming film Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again. The movie is headed directly to Disney+, taking the franchise to an animated format for the first time. The official trailer was recently released courtesy of Walt Disney Studios, giving fans their first look at Nick Daley, Teddy Roosevelt, and plenty more characters from the initial trilogy....

Nominees for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performances in 2011 in five film and eight primetime television categories and for the SAG honors for outstanding action performances by film and television stunt ensembles were announced this morning in Los Angeles at the Pacific Design Center’s SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood.
