On the eve of the live-action Transformers movie, from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro, Inc. hitting theaters nationwide, thousands of TRANSFORMERS fans and collectors from around the world will heed the call to “roll out” and gather at BotCon, the annual event celebrating the TRANSFORMERS universe. BotCon runs June 28 to July 1, 2007, and – for the first time ever – the four-day convention will be held in Providence, Rhode Island, Hasbro’s home state....

RJJE films will soon introduce unsuspecting audiences to Old Man. Old Man is a 2022 horror/mystery/ thriller under the direction of Lucky McKee. The nondescript title makes the offering seem simplistic. However, given the breadcrumb teasers and action-packed trailers, Old Man is anything but simple. In fact, the Old Man trailer has Stephen Lang terrorizing a hiker, proving this is a film viewers will not forget. It might just transform how filmgoers look at hiking, cabins in the woods, or old men....

In 1998, a movie called Out of Sight was released. It starred George Clooney, the most recent Batman at the time, and someone that people still thought of as doctor Doug Ross from E.R., and Jennifer Lopez, a singer and dancer, not yet a pop star, who was more known for her roles in Anaconda and Money Train. It was made by an artsy director, whose last film was Gray’s Anatomy (not the TV series, an experimental movie)....

Christopher Walken and Allison Williams are featured on the first poster for Peter Pan Live!, the next musical from NBC, which airs this Holiday season. Allison Williams takes on the iconic role of Peter Pan in this award-winning Broadway musical based on J.M. Barrie’s tale of eternal youth. A mischievous boy who can fly and doesn’t age, Peter grew up without parents and spends his never-ending childhood on the enchanted island of Never Land where he is the leader of the Lost Boys....

The director laid out a self-distribution plan that includes a touring roadshow, where Kevin Smith and star Michael Parks will bring Red State to 13 cities across the country starting on March 5 before Red State hits theaters on October 19. Tickets go on sale on January 28 for all shows and proceeds from these screenings will go directly to the print-making budget. ABC has unveiled the first trailer for their upcoming midseason series Red Widow, which debuts Sunday, March 3 with the Season 1 Premiere. Radha Mitchell stars as Marta Walraven, a San Francisco mother who raises her children in an organized crime family. When her husband is murdered, Marta decides to protect her children by taking over her late husband’s criminal enterprise. Get famed director Brian De Palma’s new film online before it hits theaters. In a story from Home Media Magazine, it seems that the Director’s Iraq war film, Redacted, “will be the first offering on the HDNet Ultra Video On Demand platform - before its theatrical premiere.” HDNet Ultra Video On Demand “will allow consumers access to certain theatrical releases from their cable or satellite provider’s selection of On Demand movies as early as three weeks prior to their theatrical release....

History gets badly fractured in The Amazing Screw-On Head, from the same guy who brought you Hellboy, Mike Mignola. Somehow, President Abraham “Honest Abe” Lincoln has a special agent he can call on when the Forces of Evil rear their collectively ugly head, Special Agent Screw-On Head. Who is, not surprisingly, a robot. With a screw-on head. And in this case, Screw-On Head has been dispatched to stop the fiendish Emperor Zombie and his cohorts–werewolves, tommy-gun-toting monkeys, the elderly, and the queen of the vampires....

One of my favorite things in storytelling is when multiple stories are told separately but they end up having various ways of connecting along the way. I’ve already been enjoying Riverdale Season Two this time around like a bunch of metal-heads at a Guns N’ Roses reunion concert. And the fact that they kept with their developing plotline of their enigmatic killer The Black Hood while taking a different approach in how they chose to tell this week’s episode was like an early Xmas present from the CW Network....

The holiday season in a town like Riverdale should seem like a festive time but since this year the season isn’t all white Christmas but more a darker shade with the threat of The Black Hood still in the back of people’s minds on the mid-season finale, Silent Night, Deadly Night. Archie (K.J. Apa) and his dad Fred (Luke Perry) are running a Christmas tree business out in front of Pop’s Chok’ Lit Shoppe to help make extra money since the construction business hasn’t gone so well....

YA is more popular than ever, but what does that term even mean, beyond being an acronym for ‘Young Adult?’ Roughly 55% of people who purchase YA books are older than 18, and 28% of all YA books are bought by people between the ages of 30 and 44. The boundary between YA and plain old A is simply disappearing. The box office is dominated by PG and PG-13 movies about superheroes, CGI dinosaurs, and wizards, and animated movies about anthropomorphic toys and animals, while television is teeming with dragons, elves, and ’80s kids fighting supernatural entities....

Another sad report that a much loved actor has passed away came to us today with the news that Lou Cutell, who appeared as Amazing Larry in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, has died at the age of 91. The actor had a fifty year career in film, television and theater with over 100 credits to his name. The news of his passing was shared on Facebook by friend Mark Furman who wrote, “After 91 years, and a great life, my friend Lou Cutell went home....

Lucas Black and Cary Elwes have signed on to star opposite Sam Shepard in Epix’s first pilot, Tough Trade. In other news according to The Hollywood Reporter, Garrett Dillahunt has landed a co-starring role on Greg Garcia’s comedy pilot for Fox, Keep Hope Alive. Tough Trade is a contemporary one-hour drama about the Tucker family, a Nashville music dynasty whose penchant for drink, debauchery and divorce has left it on the verge of bankruptcy....

Production has begun in London on Academy Award-winner Martin Scorsese’s adventure film Hugo Cabret. The live-action film, to be photographed in 3D, stars Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley (Shutter Island), Sacha Baron Cohen (Bruno), Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas), and Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass). Based on Brian Selznick’s captivating and imaginative New York Times bestseller The Invention of Hugo Cabret, the screenplay is by John Logan and the film is produced by Scorsese, Graham King, Tim Headington, and Johnny Depp....

After so much potential on the Emmy’s nomination list, Marvel has failed to secure the nominations that they might have hoped for after their first year on Disney+ and number of high profile movie releases. However, as the Golden Globe nominations were announced, it was only thanks once again to the acting leads of WandaVision that Marvel found themselves in the running for a shot at scooping something from the high profile event....

The Batman’s marketing campaign is ramping up as we head into the last six weeks before the movie arrives in cinemas after a long delay. Actor Colin Farrell becomes the latest star to take on the role of The Penguin in the movie, and in a recent interview he discussed exactly who Matt Reeves used as a point of reference for the emotional side of the character of Oswald Cobblepot. Speaking to MovieMaker, Farrell explained how the character of Fredo from The Godfather, while not linked to his thoughts in performing the role, certainly fit with Reeves’ plans for the penguin....

New Girl returns from its holiday hiatus, with the first new episode in nearly a month, “Cabin”, airing Tuesday, January 8 at 9 PM ET on Fox. Max Greenfield, who is up for a Golden Globe Award this weekend for his portrayal of Schmidt, recently held a conference call to discuss the show’s return. He first spoke about his Golden Globe nomination, how odd it is to be nominated alongside mini-series actors, and where he was when the news broke....

HBO has released a preview trailer for “Please Hold My Hand, Episode 4 of The Last of Us, set to air on Sunday, February 5, giving fans another look at Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock, Yellowjackets) as Kathleen, described as the ruthless leader of a Kansas City revolutionary movement. “Long, Long Time,” the third episode of the series, was an emotional, heart-wrenching episode about a gay couple, Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett), and has been praised as one of the best episodes of television in months....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mickey Rooney and Dick Van Dyke are plotting their return to studio films, playing villains in Shawn Levy’s family tentpole Night at the Museum for 20th Century Fox. Rooney and Van Dyke, along with Bill Cobbs (I Still Know What You Did Last Summer), will play security guards at the Museum of Natural History on the same detail as Ben Stiller’s night watchman. Stiller’s character discovers a magical pharaoh’s tablet, but Van Dyke, playing the head of security who has worked at the museum for nearly 50 years, wants the tablet to stay young....

If you haven’t yet had a chance to check out the Prime Video series Modern Love, you need to add it to your watch list. Modern Love is a romantic-comedy television series based on The New York Times weekly newspaper column of the same name. According to Deadline, the series (much like the column) explores “love in its multitude of forms – including sexual, romantic, familial, platonic, and self-love.” The series is interesting as it does not follow the same cast throughout the entirety of each season, but rather follows a new cast and new stories in each subsequent episode....
