FilmDistrict has slated the sci-fi thriller Looper for release on September 28, 2012. As of now, Looper is the only movie set to open on that date. The second season of Mayor of Kingstown has arrived on Paramount+. This follows a wait from fans who’ve been anticipating new episodes since season 1 debuted in 2021. Whether the show ends up moving forward with a third season remains to be seen, and will depend upon the viewership data and fan reception that is brought in by season 2. In any case, series creators Hugh Dillon and Taylor Sheridan are prepared to keep this series going for a while longer yet if that’s what the fans and the people at Paramount+ want....
It looks like Michael B. Jordan’s planned Superman project at HBO Max is moving forward. After previous reports that Jordan had teamed up with WarnerMedia to develop a new live-action project based on the Val Zod incarnation of Superman, Deadline now reports that Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters have just signed on to write the script. The new recently penned the screenplay for the upcoming sequel Transformers: Rise of the Beasts for Paramount Pictures, which just wrapped filming....

Marvel Studios isn’t done with their Disney+ streaming shows. Kevin Feige came out at D23 today to announce that they are developing a She-Hulk series, a Moon Knight series, and confirmed the Ms. Marvel series all at the same time. If that wasn’t enough, he was also on hand to shed more light on the already-announced shows, which are set to begin production this fall. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get a lot bigger and it looks like Disney+ is going to be the way to experience all of it....
Marvel’s Moon Knight series has found its head writer. The series will be guided by The Umbrella Academy’s Jeremy Slater, who promises that the series will be “one hell of a ride.” This is the first update that we have received about the show since Kevin Feige first announced it at the D23 Fan Expo over the summer. Marvel Studios is putting a lot of faith into its Disney+ material and is preparing to crank out a lot of it in the next few years....
If a new story is to be believed, it seems a 2005 summer blockbuster could get a reboot. Vulture is reporting that Fox is developing Mr. and Mrs. Smith remake. The site also reports that the new film will be titled Mr. and Mrs. Jones and will not feature the original film’s stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. While the first film centered on a dull married couple who both lead double lives as assassins without either of them knowing their spouse’s true profession, this film will revolve a younger couple who are set up as a fake husband and wife when they complete their agency training....
In just a few short days, USA Network’s critically-acclaimed drama series Mr. Robot returns for its second season, with the two-hour season premiere airing Wednesday, July 13 at 10 PM ET. The show was a breakout success last year, with series star Rami Malek landing Golden GLobe and SAG Award nominations for his performance as Elliot Alderson. Legendary actor Marlon Brando almost had a strange appearance in Scary Movie 2, but it was not meant to be. Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne, who played Regan MacNeil in a parody of The Exorcist in Scary Movie 2’s opening scene, recently opened up about her work on the film. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Lyonne explained how she has a VHS copy of an alternate version of the scene that features Brando in the role of the priest played by James Woods, and though it was axed from the film, it turned out to be one of Brando’s last performances....
While there are still rumors lingering that a third movie in the National Treasure franchise is a possibility well over a decade after it was initially announced as being in development, the Disney+ TV series based on the much-loved Nicolas Cage franchise is steaming ahead. The title of the series has finally been revealed; it hints at another epic outing for the franchise, although this time around, it will reportedly not feature Cage but will have some connections to the movies....
