According to Pamela Anderson, her ex Kid Rock was very unhappy with her cameo in the 2006 comedy Borat. In the mockumentary, Sacha Baron Cohen plays a Kazakhstani journalist who travels to the United States to document what life is like for people living in America. The Borat character falls in love with Anderson after seeing Baywatch and eventually meets with the actress at an autograph signing. Anderson plays herself in the scene, though she was in on the joke with Cohen and played along for the film.
At the time, Anderson was in a relationship with singer Kid Rock. As the Barb Wire star now details in her new memoir, Love, Pamela, she attended the world premiere screening of the film with the controversial musician, whom she refers to by his real name, Robert “Bob” Ritchie. She had the idea of surprising Kid Rock with the cameo and didn’t tell him about it beforehand, and while this did draw quite the reaction, it wasn’t one that Anderson was expecting. Here’s how Anderson describes the situation, per Rolling Stone:
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Anderson alleges that the “Cowboy” singer angrily left her alone in the parking lot in front of everyone else in attendance, leaving her embarrassed and in need of a ride home. According to Anderson, the situation wasn’t much better when she went inside.
“I didn’t tell Bob I was in the movie, because I wanted to surprise him. I forgot about the part in the film that referenced the ‘sex tape.’ Bob stormed out, calling me a whore and worse. He was embarrassed, and his reaction was not thought through.”
“After I chased Bob to his car, he peeled out, leaving me there alone. I turned back and apologized, then asked if anyone could give me a ride home. When I walked in, Bob was smashing a photo on the wall. He said he was sick of waking up to a picture of me and David LaChapelle every day. But it wasn’t me and David — it was Marilyn Monroe and Bert Stern.”
Pamela Anderson Tells Her Story
Netflix
Kid Rock isn’t the only celebrity named in the memoir with alleged problematic behavior. Anderson has also claimed that Tim Allen flashed her on the set of Home Improvement when she was still an up-and-coming star at the age of 23. She also says Sylvester Stallone once propositioned her to be his “number one girl” in exchange for a condo and a Porsche. Both Allen and Stallone have firmly denied these allegations.
In addition to her new memoir, Anderson opens up more about her life in a new Netflix documentary. Called Pamela, a love story, the doc is now streaming on Netflix.
