Welcome Paul Reiser to the cast of The Boys. Per Variety, it has just been reported that Reiser will play “The Legend,” a character who originally appeared in the comic book version of The Boys by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The Legend is essentially The Boys’ version of Stan Lee, the late Marvel legend who’s widely regarded as one of the greatest minds in comic book history. He will be introduced in the fifth episode of the season, dubbed “The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies,” which premieres on Friday on Prime Video.

The Boys has streamed the first half of its third season on Prime Video. Its continued success has resulted in a recent renewal for season 4 at the streamer. The acclaimed series has only gotten popular with each passing season and the news of the renewal was met with great appreciation from fans.

Paul Reiser Joins Jensen Ackles as a Season 3 Newcomer

The big theme of season 3 has been the quest to find out what happened to Soldier Boy, a famous superhero from the past with incredible superpowers in the years before Homelander and the Seven were established at Vought. The hope is that if Billy Butcher and the Boys can figure out what it was that had reportedly killed Soldier Boy, they can use it against Homelander, putting a stop to the patriotic superhero’s reign of terror.

Jensen Ackles plays Soldier Boy, and fans have praised the Supernatural star’s casting in the role. Showrunner Eric Kripke, who created Supernatural, explained how Ackles’ casting was coincidental, but just happened to work out perfectly. It all stemmed from a phone call that came at the right time.

“We just happened to be talking, we chat maybe twice a year, and we just happened to be having a conversation,” Kripke said. “He was telling me he was free from Supernatural and he was starting to look around, and I was telling him, ‘I’m having a hard time casting this part.’”

Kripke added, “I was originally looking for an older actor, because he is a World War II veteran. We were going for this John Wayne, Robert Mitchum archetype. So it hadn’t occurred to me to think of Jensen because he plays as younger, but it wasn’t until I was on the phone with him that I was like, ‘Wait a minute, are you interested in this part? Can I send you this scene?’”

You can watch The Boys on Prime Video.
