It’s been a rough couple of days for Julie Plec’s relationship with Peacock. After the streaming service’s cancelation of Vampire Academy, the upcoming adaptation of AfterShock’s comic book Dead Day is reportedly not moving forward at the platform, despite the recent season order (via Variety).
Created by Ryan Parrott, the story follows an ensemble of characters as they navigate the annual ‘dead day,’ when the dead come back to complete unfinished business for one night, whether to celebrate a night back on earth or to torment the living.
Plec and Williamson, who have already worked together on The Vampire Diaries, were set to write and produce the show while also acting as co-showrunners. The streamer ordered the series back in 2022, and it seemed a sure thing when they decided to green-light a whole season for it.

The streaming war is at its peak, with the biggest studios and tv companies offering original and classic content through their own platform. NBC and Universal didn’t stay behind, and Peacock appeared as an option for the brands to capture new audiences. And although it is far from being able to compete with the giants such as Netflix, Disney, or HBO Max, it has some exciting options for subscribers to enjoy.
Recently added to the catalog, Rian Johnson’s Poker Face has become one of the service’s best-reviewed series. Starring Natasha Lyonne, the show follows Charlie, a woman with an uncanny talent for telling when someone isn’t being truthful. While traveling in her Plymouth Barracuda, Charlie encounters puzzling crimes she becomes drawn into trying to help solve.
After two successful movies, Pitch Perfect is back with a spin-off show starring Adam DeVine’s Bumper. Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin centers around the fan-favorite character several years after the movies, when one of his songs becomes popular in Germany, and he decides to move there, confident he can revive his failed music career.

He’s a close friend of the family, and the Brobergs’ faith and sense of community create blinders to Berchtold’s true motivations and psychopathic tendencies. As Berchtold digs deeper and deeper into the fabric of the family, even trying to turn the young girl against them, father Bob (Hanks) finds it increasingly difficult to ignore the truth masked behind the charm.
