There are plenty of reasons why Peaky Blinders has earned a well-deserved spot among the best TV series of the last decade. This British crime drama series, created and written by Steven Knight, recounts the story of the Peaky Blinders criminal gang, known for their bladed berets and fearsome attitude, and their exploits in Birmingham following World War I. This gang is not entirely fictional, since it is, in fact, inspired by an urban youth gang from Birmingham with the same name. Perhaps a part of its success is due to its excellent cast, led by Cillian Murphy playing probably his best role to this day, along with Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Joe Cole, Tom Hardy, and many others who have joined the cast since its premiere in 2013.
Throughout its six seasons, Peaky Blinders was able to keep a very high quality, delivering increasingly better episodes with endings that grew more and more intriguing. Its unique direction, impeccable atmosphere, cinematography, script, and costumes were the perfect combination to turn the show into a hit. Following season six, which was expected to be the series finale, Knight announced that they will soon start work on a movie, wrapping up the story of Tommy Shelby and his gang. More than that, there are still some fan-desired spin-offs under discussion. The storyline of the Peaky Blinders movie has not yet been announced, nor the premiere date. In fact, they have not yet started working on it. However, we do know that all the main actors will participate in it, helping to bring closure to each of their stories. As we wait for more information about this movie, let’s review some of the things we hope to see in this sequel-film.

8 A New Tommy
BBC Studios
Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) has evolved in a very intricate way over the seasons. The sixth season of Peaky Blinders in particular has been a pivotal point in his story, with the seeming diagnosis of a terminal illness that led him to put his affairs in order to leave a good future for his family. The audience has already seen several sides of him, ranging from his moments of kindness to his malice and coldness in taking care of his enemies. However, by the end of the latest season, Tommy revealed a new side, as, for the first time, he recognized himself as the only one capable of taking him down. Then, after witnessing the burning caravan in which he planned to end his life, he rode off on a white horse to what we hope will be a new beginning, one that will certainly be explored in the Peaky Blinder movie.

7 Gina’s Vengeance
In the sixth season finale of Peaky Blinders, Polly’s prophecy came true, and the war between Tommy and Michael Gray (Finn Cole) finally ended with the latter dead, even after he had planned his revenge against the leader of the Peaky Blinders for months. Yet, this war is far from over, as we can imagine that, when Gina gets the news about her husband being killed by Shelby, she will take it upon herself to get revenge. This past season, Anya Taylor-Joy’s character took quite a bit of the spotlight for her vindictive personality, and though her true feelings for her late husband are not clear, it is certain that she will take his death very personally.
6 Oswald Mosley and Diana Mitford’s Future in Politics
In season five of Peaky Blinders, the audience was introduced to Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin), the main antagonist of the season. Subsequently, when Mosley already gained some prominence in the show, Diana Mitford (Amber Anderson), his mistress — and, later, second wife — was introduced. Following the events of the latest season, and considering that we already know what the situation in England is like during the fascist advance, as outlined by Town & Country, it will be fascinating to know the future of these characters within that particular scenario, as well as their relationship with Ada (Sophie Rundle), who might inherit her brother’s political position. Moreover, considering that Mosley was the mastermind responsible for the doctor’s trick on Tommy, leading him to believe that he was going to die soon, the re-encounter of these two figures in the Peaky Blinders movie will surely be quite tense.
5 Arthur’s Comeback
Arthur (Paul Anderson) himself changed significantly over the course of the show, partly due to his abuse of drugs and alcohol, resulting in his erratic and extremely aggressive behavior. So much so, that many fans theorized that his tragic end would come in the latest season. However, unlike what the audience expected, once he hit rock bottom, Arthur started to recover, thanks to the help of Tommy and Linda (Kate Phillips), who once again came to his rescue in spite of everything that happened between the two of them. Because of that, plus the fact that he will probably get the news that Tommy is not sick at all, it is expected that he will either bounce back and return stronger than ever to the group, or that he will recover and finally go his own way in the Peaky Blinders movie.
4 IRA vs. Arthur and the Peaky Blinders
Polly Gray (played by the late Helen McCrory) was a major player in the Shelby siblings’ family and business life, officiating as matriarch of the family and taking charge of the Peaky Blinders when Tommy and his brothers were in World War I. Sadly, after her nephews attempted to kill Mosley, the IRA decided to take action by murdering her and sending her body to Tommy’s house. Payback from the Peaky Blinders finally came at the hands of Arthur, who, along with some of his allies, wrapped up the sixth season by coldly murdering Laura McKee (Charlene McKenna) and other party members on Polly’s behalf. This conflict foreshadows a potential war between the IRA and the gang that, hopefully, will unfold in the Peaky Blinders movie.
3 Ada: A Leader is Born?
This sixth season of Peaky Blinders finally gave Ada Thorne, the only sister in the Shelby family, the starring role she deserved. Throughout the show, this young woman was left behind, practically overshadowed by her brothers, but it seems that, in the Peaky Blinders movie, Ada will finally play a key role in the family business, as seen in the latest season, where she had to make some decisions due to her brothers’ problems. Considering the grief that Tommy will have to go through for the death of his daughter, and Arthur’s recovery process, the fate of the family will practically rest in Ada’s hands. Perhaps the Peaky Blinders movie will also feature the beginning of Ada’s political career, being that, in the season finale, Tommy assured her that she would have a very successful path in politics if she devoted herself to it.
2 Finn the Traitor: A Future Apart From The Gang
Although Finn Shelby (Harry Kirton) had been a part of every season of the show, it was only after John’s death, during the fourth season, that he began to take his first steps in the family business. However, it was soon discovered that his intentions were not so loyal to the Shelbys, as he was responsible for thwarting Tommy’s plan to assassinate Oswald Mosley. From that moment on, the Peaky Blinders’ leader became suspicious of him, and by the end of season six, these concerns were confirmed thanks to the trap set up by Duke, ending with Billy (Emmett J. Scanlan) being killed and Finn being kicked out of the family. It will be quite interesting to find out if the younger Shelby brother will really be able to stand on his own two feet and carry out the revenge he swore to Duke or not.
1 Duke and Charles: Two Sides of the Same Coin
During season six, and after Ruth Shelby’s death, Tommy discovered that he had an illegitimate son named Duke (Conrad Khan), so he did not hesitate to include him in the family. This young man, who at first was reluctant to join the gang, was already fully integrated by the end of the season and assumed a very important role that placed him as a possible heir and successor to Tommy. Bearing this in mind, the scene where Tommy whispered something in his ear before setting out on his journey may be more important than it seems, as it is possible that he gave him instructions on how to manage the gang in his absence. Meanwhile, given the obvious discomfort of Tommy’s other son Charles, the show set the stage for a possible upcoming confrontation between the heirs. While Thomas’ original idea was for Charles to take over the legal business and Duke to operate from the shadows, his sons may not be entirely on board with this command, so watching how they handle this in the Peaky Blinders movie will certainly be very interesting.
