This article contains spoilers for Peaky Blinders. One of the best series created by the BBC, Peaky Blinders, has come to an end, but even after six seasons, it appears that there are still stories left to tell about this family from Birmingham. Fans can rest assured that they will see Tommy Shelby once again, fighting everyone and everything he sees fit, since a Peaky Blinders movie will continue the story.

Peaky Blinders is based on true events that happened at the beginning of the 19th century in England. A family that started with an illegal betting house and turned into prominent gangster figures in politics, Peaky Blinders is a story about blood, family, and what it takes to be on top. The series is extremely well executed; from the acting to the cinematography, every creative decision enhances the story. It is almost impossible to pick only a few of the best moments over six seasons, but here are some of the most iconic scenes in the show.

An iconic scene that perfectly exemplifies Arthur’s character in Peaky Blinders, when the gang assaults a bar and decides that it is theirs; taking it with violence, of course. The soundtrack, the slow motion, and the brutal violence that take place here are the core of what the show is about. A beautiful shot sequence that surprises at every turn and ends with a cheeky smile by Arthur as he watches the mayhem (that he started) unfold in front of his eyes, this is a glorious moment in the show.

8 Grace’s Death

S03E02

After everything goes against an unusual couple, Grace and Tommy get together. They start to build a family, and it’s clear how different the Peaky Blinder’s boss becomes with the love of his life at his side. That’s why her death was so painful to watch and unexpected by fans. The close shot of Tommy shouting and holding Grace close slowly becomes a wide shot where the audience can see the Shelby brothers killing the assassin, Polly running for help, and Ada in complete shock. A spectacular scene from beginning to end, especially when sadly considering what it meant for Tommy to lose Grace and somehow a part of himself in the same bullet.

7 Tommy vs. The Italians

S04E05

The Italians and Tommy finally go head-to-head in a great shootout sequence. Changretta thought he had Tommy in the palm of his hand. However, the Peaky Blinder was ready to go and had orchestrated what appeared to be an ambush for himself, only to ambush the Italians instead with machine guns just as powerful as theirs. With incredible cinematographic choices, such as the flowing white bedsheets being sprayed with blood and the nonstop action in unexpected locations, this gunfight is incredible to watch because of the combination of plot and cinematography.

6 Arthur Avenges Aunt Polly

S06E06

There is no shortage of gunfight sequences in Peaky Blinders. Because of that, the show continually had to reinvent itself and try to be innovative and cinematic. In the last episode of the final season of the gangster show, there is a much-needed reckoning: the thrilling revenge for Aunt Polly’s murder. With gas masks and clever ambushes, Arthur is able to make the people that killed her pay and, maybe, finally get the peace of mind he so desperately needed.

5 Charlie Gets Kidnapped

S03E06

Wwhat appears to be a harmless get-together transforms into the kidnapping of Thomas’ son. The quick editing, the foreshadowing, and eventually the reality of how fast things can go south are all great examples of how this scene builds tension in mere seconds and can keep adding to it. Seeing Thomas Shelby throwing up from the pure terror of not knowing what they might do to his kid adds various layers to the character and situation, since the fans have seen him go to hell and back before and not lose his composure.

4 “There is a God and there are the Peaky Blinders.”

S05E03

Everyone knew that when Aunt Polly and Tommy got together, the problem will be solved. So, when they hear that children (especially the Black ones) are being abused in a convent they immediately interfere. It is not enough to humiliate the nuns, but also remind them that God may be almighty, but the Peaky Blinders are much closer. The duo withdraw the money they donated, and Polly makes it very clear that the issue is not done and that she will be back for blood.

3 Alfie and Tommy on the Beach

S04E06

Every moment with Alfie Solomons and Tommy in Peaky Blinders was incredible. The duality between the characters, Alfie’s weird intense energy competing with Tommy’s calmness, created a relationship that is particular to them. In what appeared to be their final combat, the dialogue, and the beautiful beach is the background for the unexpected turn: Alfie shoots Tommy first. A scene about equals that resonates with all their other scenes solidifies one of the most interesting and intricate relationships in the series.

2 Thomas Shelby Meets Luca Changretta

S04E02

Season four is a fan favorite. When the Italian mob from New York appear was a game changer for the characters and the show. The stakes had never been higher, and until this moment, the Peaky Blinders gang hadn’t fought someone as clever as them. The power dynamic changes in almost every line of dialogue in the scene where the two bosses finally meet. A moment of recognition for Tommy that he is not the smartest in the room, maybe for the very first time in the show, and a great introduction to one of the best characters in the series, this scene represents how the show had some of the best dialogue in modern television history.

1 “So f****** close.”

S02E06

A big plot twist at the end of the second season of the show, this scene is heartbreaking to watch. For the first time in his life, Tommy had everything he wanted: his family, the business was going well, and most importantly, Grace. So, when he is ambushed and sees a grave dug in front of him, he can’t believe he came so close and still lost. At the last moment, a British agent working for Winston Churchill saves Tommy from all odds, and he can go after his happily ever after - even if it is an ephemeral one.
