In the past, Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland revealed that he auditioned unsuccessfully for a role in the hit crime series Peaky Blinders. Well, with Holland now a big box office draw, the creator behind the hit show, Steven Knight, has invited the actor to star in the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie. While attending the recent premiere of Peaky Blinders Season 6, Knight addressed Holland’s failed attempt to star in the series (via Metro) and seemed eager to have Tom Holland join the gang for the movie.
Exactly which role Holland auditioned for at the time is unknown, though Knight believes that “it must have been quite a big role he was auditioning for.” Holland, meanwhile, has said of the experience, “I actually auditioned for Peaky Blinders and I did not get the part.” So, could Tom Holland finally get the chance to don a flat cap alongside Cillian Murphy in the Peaky Blinders movie? Or could he surprise us all by playing against type as a villain, perhaps? Only time will tell.
“But if he wants to come back for the film, we’ll have him.”

The Peaky Blinders movie emerged in lieu of the show not going ahead with a planned seventh series. Instead, season 6 will be the show’s last, with the story set to continue with a movie, which many expect will wrap up the saga of Tommy Shelby. While details of the project remain scarce, Steven Knight has revealed that Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby will appear in the movie, saying, “It’s impossible to say yet” regarding the character’s involvement in future Peaky Blinders projects. “But the film – yes.” The Peaky Blinders movie is expected to begin production in 2023.
There is Still More to Come for the World of the Peaky Blinders Beyond Season 6

Knight has teased the future of the world of the Peaky Blinders, teasing a lot more to come beyond the sixth and final season. “We’re going to make a film – a feature film – which will move the world on, and then once we’ve moved the world on into the Second World, we’ll see where that takes us. It’s now a situation where the world… you know, around the world, the Peaky world, it’s got so much energy, and so much following, and such a huge fanbase, that you think: ‘Well, let’s just carry on.’ So we do.”
Before any of that, Peaky Blinders Season 6 is currently underway, with Knight describing it as “‘the end of the beginning’ because there’s so much more to come.”
Set in Birmingham, England, Peaky Blinders follows the exploits of the titular crime gang in the direct aftermath of the First World War. The fictional gang is loosely based on a real urban youth gang of the same name who was active in the city from the 1890s to the 1910s. Starring Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby Jr., Tom Hardy as Alfie Solomons, Finn Cole as Michael Gray, Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray, Sam Claflin as Oswald Mosley, and Stephen Graham, Peaky Blinders Season 6 premiered on February 27, 2022.
