Pedro Pascal has had quite a journey over the last few years. After more than 20 years playing bit parts, Pascal has carved himself an impressive roster of movie and TV roles since starring as Game of Thrones’ unfortunate Oberyn Martell which include the title role of Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian and the upcoming adaptation of video game The Last of Us. Now he is starring with Nicolas Cage in the bizarre and over the top comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and it seems that acting alongside the sometimes heavily criticized actor has given Pascal a new outlook on his acting career.
Pascal recently appeared on BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast, and discussed what it was like to work with Cage on the movie. According to Pascal, Cage has been one of his movie idols for some time and working with him has given him a new passion when it comes to his own work as an actor. He said:
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent was one of the few movies to gain a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score when critic reviews started appearing on the site, and even now as the movie heads towards its general release this week that rating is still sitting on 95%. While the film is very much Nicolas Cage’s movie, many of the reviews so far have also been quick to praise Pascal’s performance as Javi, who finds himself as a road-buddy to Cage’s fictional take on himself.
“There was almost something about, I don’t know, reawakening the things that you care about and why you got into it in the first place, because he’s still challenging himself, he’s super prepared, he’s coming up with new ideas, and, honestly, it was an incredible challenge to rise to but it was mostly a really beautiful inspiration and a reminder of why I had this fantasy to start with and then study and then job. It was because of how he feels and how he treats acting.”
Pedro Pascal Will Return As The Mandalorian Later This Year
As well as appearing in apocalyptic thriller The Last of Us on HBO Max next year, Pedro Pascal will once again be seen as The Mandalorian on Disney+ when the popular Star Wars spin-off returns for a third season at the end of the year. With many saying that his appearance in The Book of Boba Fett ended up saving that show from crashing in its final act, Pascal’s future in the Star Wars universe seems to be one that is as certain as anything can be in Hollywood these days.
The Mandalorian has become one of the highest-rated Star Wars projects ever, and although Pascal’s face has only been seen on screen twice, his presence in the lead role and his character’s ongoing story featuring “Baby Yoda,” have created something that fans of the franchise, both new and old, just can’t seem to get enough of. While The Mandalorian is yet to air its third season, it would be foolish to bet against seeing more seasons to come in the future.
